And this is episode number five.

Speaker:

Nicholas, what's going on today?

Speaker:

So today we are going to re.

Speaker:

Be reviewing an anime called Drifters.

Speaker:

Drifters.

Speaker:

This was also one that was suggested to us.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

So if you guys wanna send us suggestions to review, go ahead and attend us on

Speaker:

Instagram or Facebook or any social media platforms, TikTok, whatever.

Speaker:

We actually only reviewing the.

Speaker:

First part.

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

This is gonna be a two-parter.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So this is gonna be a two-parter.

Speaker:

So we're doing episode one through six, and then the next episode is

Speaker:

going to be episode six through 12.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

There's a lot that happens in this m a This a came out it's not too long ago,

Speaker:

but long enough ago, what, five years ago?

Speaker:

Yeah, it was 2017.

Speaker:

Yeah, 2017.

Speaker:

So I think that, The first thing I'd say is like a lot of this

Speaker:

animation is really, really good.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Spoiler warning just in general.

Speaker:

'cause obviously it's a review of the first part of it, so

Speaker:

if you don't wanna be spoiled.

Speaker:

Don't listen to, don't listen to this.

Speaker:

Like, I don't, I don't know what else you want from me.

Speaker:

Like this is, this is spoilers for one through six.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And we don't do, sorry, we don't do spoiler free reviews.

Speaker:

'cause we just don't, it's not, that's, that's, that's not, that's not us.

Speaker:

That's not what we do.

Speaker:

If you want that then, you know, kick rocks.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You're gonna have to go.

Speaker:

That's, you do that.

Speaker:

But yeah it's kind of interesting.

Speaker:

Basically, the drifters are famous icons from our world, right?

Speaker:

Who get shifted into another world a big, it's basically a

Speaker:

chess game, chess game, east Kai.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

A whole bunch of things.

Speaker:

Who love it Sych from different time periods.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Different, different time periods into this same world.

Speaker:

You have people like well, the main character's names are we're about

Speaker:

to just destroy these names, right?

Speaker:

Just in general to Ishi.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Toi Toi Zu.

Speaker:

The main guy's name is Shi Zu.

Speaker:

There's another guy named nsu and the other guy's name is ODA.

Speaker:

And they're all from Noga.

Speaker:

Yeah, they're all from Japan.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

They well Toi was a historical samurai.

Speaker:

Nobunaga was one of the most famous futile lords in futile Japan.

Speaker:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker:

And he took the first step to uniting Japan.

Speaker:

So, yeah.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Obviously we had to look these people up, right?

Speaker:

We didn't know, but initially I'm clear.

Speaker:

Obviously she was like, okay.

Speaker:

But then when they said Butch Cassidy, Yeah, I'm a Sundance kid.

Speaker:

We were like, I got that.

Speaker:

We know, we know these people.

Speaker:

This, this is okay.

Speaker:

They also said Hitler.

Speaker:

I mean, we, everyone knows who that guy is, but he's he's the bad guy.

Speaker:

Don't worry.

Speaker:

He's not on the good side.

Speaker:

He's not the chief bad guy, though.

Speaker:

He's not.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

He's not.

Speaker:

We get Jesus is get to la Yeah.

Speaker:

It's so it's not, it's an implied that it not even implied it.

Speaker:

It might be, we don't know.

Speaker:

Okay, so basically what happens is that, She mou he's in some war or battle, right?

Speaker:

And while walking through the forest, he basically is straight up just east

Speaker:

egg hide in this like long hallway into like this other world, right?

Speaker:

Well, it, I mean the anime starts with 'cause I looked it up, the anime starts.

Speaker:

'cause it doesn't tell you, or maybe it does, I don't remember.

Speaker:

But it tells you.

Speaker:

It's the Battle of Seki Jahara or something like that.

Speaker:

Really?

Speaker:

Yeah, so, and obviously I didn't, I didn't know it was that one.

Speaker:

And then, you know, he gets like fatally wounded and he thinks he's

Speaker:

dead and maybe he's gone to heaven.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

All these people, they get transferred over when they have died in our world.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But they're not actually dead.

Speaker:

Right before they die.

Speaker:

They go to the other world kind of, it seems.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And play this.

Speaker:

Play this chess game.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

With these, with these people.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

There's like two people in this big ass hallway, one of which has like, you

Speaker:

see all these different types of doors.

Speaker:

He sits at a desk.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

And he's like, oh, I put drifters in this other world because they're

Speaker:

like the good people we're supposed to help the world or whatever.

Speaker:

And then there's just like, Some gothic , I guess I don't know what her name is,

Speaker:

and she's like, yeah, I looked it up.

Speaker:

Her name is easy, easy.

Speaker:

That is, that is a horrible name for a, a woman.

Speaker:

I would not have, I would, I would not have, would've not have gone that way.

Speaker:

But that's it.

Speaker:

It reminds me of you ever, you see, okay, so here.

Speaker:

We have people like wear shirts with like Japanese characters on them.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And the thing is, is you know, somebody who's Japanese would be

Speaker:

like, you know, that says soup, right?

Speaker:

Like Right.

Speaker:

I know you think it looks cool, but it says like someone told

Speaker:

you it said warrior, but it actually just says soup on it.

Speaker:

And then I've been to places where like they said like you know, the army surplus

Speaker:

store that's in Yeah, that's in Burbank.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, I've been over there.

Speaker:

They have an army surplus store in at Burbank.

Speaker:

I was looking for boots.

Speaker:

Just some, some dress, it's not dress boots, but some

Speaker:

army military uniform boots.

Speaker:

The, the tan ones, right?

Speaker:

So I see a sword.

Speaker:

I'm like, oh, that swords kind of cool.

Speaker:

It's like a black sword.

Speaker:

I think it's kind of cool.

Speaker:

I see these Japanese symbols on it.

Speaker:

I'm like, oh, wow.

Speaker:

What is this?

Speaker:

I also am not stupid, so I'm like I don't know what this says, but

Speaker:

I think it could be pretty cool.

Speaker:

Let me see what this is.

Speaker:

And I asked him and I was like, Hey man, what is this?

Speaker:

What are these, what does these characters mean?

Speaker:

He goes, oh yeah, that's like the death of something.

Speaker:

He said he was the death of something like, so, something like really badass.

Speaker:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker:

And then, you know, you can use Google Translate on your

Speaker:

phone with like a picture.

Speaker:

And the said, cherry blossoms.

Speaker:

I was like, bro, You can't kill someone with a sword that says cherry blossom.

Speaker:

It's it not that I was gonna kill someone, but like, you can't,

Speaker:

like you can't carry that around.

Speaker:

You can't carry no.

Speaker:

Chad sword is a cherry blossom sword.

Speaker:

What's the sword say of just death Of the warrior?

Speaker:

Death of the warrior.

Speaker:

Something.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And you're like, Hey man, that says cherry blossoms on that.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Like, like Japanese people go, dude, what is this like, That is not scary to me.

Speaker:

I wish you would've killed me with a different blade than this one.

Speaker:

Like I would've be, I would've rather been killed by the sword of ramen.

Speaker:

Right, right.

Speaker:

Than cherry blossoms.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But it's, but the guy but the main villain, 'cause they call

Speaker:

'em, the good guys are drifters and the by bad guys are ends.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So the bad guys are still people who, like, they are still

Speaker:

famous people from our timeline.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And they're based off of real people.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

By the way, they're not like fictional characters like sand

Speaker:

clause or something like that.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So, but the main bad guys, and this is Joan of Arc Anastasia.

Speaker:

And which by the way, we don't know who Joan of Arc is.

Speaker:

You might, you're probably not gonna like the same thing.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

There's a lot of historical stuff that is referenced here, so, right.

Speaker:

We don't know who Joan of Arc is.

Speaker:

You need me to explain that person?

Speaker:

You're not gonna like it.

Speaker:

Just go ahead and, yeah.

Speaker:

That's my review for you personally, is that you're not gonna like it.

Speaker:

I'm talking, talking to you personally.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

You're not gonna have a good time.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

If you don't know who Jon a is, you're not gonna like it.

Speaker:

Anastasia she's the Russian daughter of the last SSAR.

Speaker:

Nicholas ii.

Speaker:

Yeah, Nicholas ii you probably, she was shot at 17 by firing

Speaker:

squad of the Bolsheviks.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You also probably do most people know who Anastasia was?

Speaker:

There was a movie.

Speaker:

Called animated movie called Anastasia.

Speaker:

And then there, dude, there was also a Siebel card.

Speaker:

Barda, I think.

Speaker:

Oh, really?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It was about the, the bad, you know, and then Disney bought

Speaker:

the rights to Anastasia, even though it's not a Disney movie.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then the other bad guy, his name is Hika Chi Jata.

Speaker:

He's a 19th century guy from Kyoto.

Speaker:

He was the demon vice commander of the Gummi.

Speaker:

And all I gotta say is that there's a lot of people famous people from Japan in

Speaker:

this show who are the demon of something.

Speaker:

I have no idea what's up with that.

Speaker:

Well, maybe that's like the most intimidating thing, like.

Speaker:

That you can be like, everyone from Japan is now a demon in this, this anime.

Speaker:

Oh, that was like the demon lord.

Speaker:

This guy's like the demon vice president.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But there's also the, the black king who's like the leader, right.

Speaker:

Of everything, like of the end.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And that's why I made the joke, like, you know, it's, it

Speaker:

doesn't say that he's Jesus.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

You don't know who this guy is.

Speaker:

He's covered in shroud the whole time.

Speaker:

But all I will say is that he says a lot of like walk with my brother and

Speaker:

like he goes around healing people.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

There's a hole in one of his hands.

Speaker:

We haven't really seen the full other hand or his feet.

Speaker:

'cause he's usually always covering shrouds.

Speaker:

But one of his hands, it looks, it appears as if there's a hole in it.

Speaker:

It's, the hole's not confirmed in the middle of his hand.

Speaker:

Right, right.

Speaker:

It looks like there might be, And he just goes around healing, called him

Speaker:

to his brothers and stuff like that.

Speaker:

And so they're supposed to be realistic figures right Now, I will

Speaker:

say this, the reason why, like a maybe thing, 'cause the bad guy,

Speaker:

they, you're giving like superpowers, like the regular guys, they're

Speaker:

like, they like coach catching them.

Speaker:

They're just.

Speaker:

I don't really know what makes those drifters special.

Speaker:

That's really good at killing people, it seems.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think, I think they they were just like, man, let's put, I heard of

Speaker:

the Butch Cassidy and Sundance kid.

Speaker:

Let's put that in there.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Because they're definitely not heroic people.

Speaker:

Well, whatever.

Speaker:

And I mean, they're on the they're on the drifter side.

Speaker:

Oh, they're on, yeah, that's right.

Speaker:

They're on the drifters.

Speaker:

The other, yeah.

Speaker:

The other drifters are like Hannibal and who was the other one?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Sipo.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Sipo.

Speaker:

And then but the enders, they have like fire powers and like wind powers and like,

Speaker:

dude Jon Jonah Vark is on the evil side.

Speaker:

Yeah, she's evil also.

Speaker:

St.

Speaker:

Jermaine is also evil.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

He's a, for some reason he's a little feminine in the, he's feminine and evil.

Speaker:

This show makes me kind of feel like they don't like Christian for some reason.

Speaker:

Like they don't come out and say it, but, All the bad guys have,

Speaker:

like, you know, there's too many on one side, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Just not that they all need to be on the good side.

Speaker:

Not saying that other religions aren't important and da da da, but like,

Speaker:

it's like specifically Christianity.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It, it's, they're not making a great case for themselves.

Speaker:

But basically so what happens in the show is that, like I said, she's on me.

Speaker:

They, he gets 10 with his other world.

Speaker:

He meets up with Natsu and Oda.

Speaker:

And they discover they're in the middle of this view between the enders and these

Speaker:

humans who are trying to take over like.

Speaker:

The whole magical world, quote unquote.

Speaker:

Like there are LSS and doors and stuff like that who are being oppressed.

Speaker:

Well, the black king is trying to wipe everybody out.

Speaker:

Right, right.

Speaker:

Because he used to love humanity.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So he used to love humanity, but they did a big betrayal to him.

Speaker:

So now he goes around and heals monster.

Speaker:

So, hey, it's really hard not to draw parallel.

Speaker:

It's really hard not to.

Speaker:

But no, it's, it's really, I think it's, I was actually telling him

Speaker:

while we were watching the episodes, like, man, I wonder why they don't

Speaker:

have more episodes of this anime.

Speaker:

So we then we saw Saint Jermaine and we were like, Hmm, maybe.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

The worst part is I, I really like the show.

Speaker:

So, no, the show is great.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

There is a lot of blood in it, so though people don't like Gore, stuff like that.

Speaker:

I mean, it's not straight with Gore, I mean, There's blood in it,

Speaker:

there's people getting their heads chopped off and stuff like that.

Speaker:

So that's too much for you.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

However, there is also, like, they go in and they've free the first village.

Speaker:

Right, right.

Speaker:

Put those, like, they're like full of Ls.

Speaker:

All these LSS are dudes.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So they're like, yeah, there's no women, right?

Speaker:

So they're like, oh, hey.

Speaker:

And then we find out what happens to the women.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

They're like, oh, where, where are these women at?

Speaker:

Where, where are they?

Speaker:

And Nicholas, you want, you wanna tell us what happens there?

Speaker:

So this is back then, right?

Speaker:

And the garrison is full of dudes, right?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So they kind of, the gar they by the way, clarification.

Speaker:

Who, who are the garrison?

Speaker:

Like we, we talk, we didn't talk about the, the antagonist.

Speaker:

Oh, the, the garrison is the the oppose the humans, right?

Speaker:

The, the evil humans who have their own like kingdoms and Right.

Speaker:

Stuff like that.

Speaker:

That was started by, Adolf Hitler, right?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It was also, which is wild.

Speaker:

So Adolf didn't die back then.

Speaker:

He was transport.

Speaker:

He was the first one isec hide, right.

Speaker:

To a magical world.

Speaker:

So I, that one time I was tried to destroy the regular world and

Speaker:

then ended up in a magical world.

Speaker:

So I actually destroyed that one.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And I succeeded in, you know, creating, I think they call 'em the Otis.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But so it's, you know, horrible, terrible people.

Speaker:

The only other people in this world are these people call these magicians.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Who basically are the ones who are helping bring the drifters Yes.

Speaker:

To the world and trying to like, make them do good stuff.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

They're, they're having like a chess battle is what I Yeah.

Speaker:

But appointed it to the main girl.

Speaker:

She's his name, who's a magician.

Speaker:

Her name is OMU, O L M I N U.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

LY knew really whatever, regardless of which they are the Ls.

Speaker:

After they trap the, after they kill the people who were coming after them

Speaker:

the first time, and then they trap more of the army and kill more of them

Speaker:

with the help of the main three, right?

Speaker:

They're like, oh, we gotta go see the women.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And they don't skimp on the graphic details of what

Speaker:

they're doing to these women.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I thought that they would just like imply it or like, 'cause

Speaker:

it's war, like ancient war.

Speaker:

Dude, they showed it, they opened up the door because if you notice, it was

Speaker:

right before he opened up the door.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Right before he opened up the door.

Speaker:

Toyo.

Speaker:

That's the guy in the red.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

One of the elves was like, I wanna kill this person who dropped on his sword.

Speaker:

He's like, but he dropped his sword so we don't show.

Speaker:

The human was like, oh, you know, I'm sorry, I surrender.

Speaker:

And then he was like, well, we have to kill him with the stuff he's done.

Speaker:

He is like, yeah, but you want to kill with honor.

Speaker:

And then he opens up the door and like, Bro, they have the elf woman

Speaker:

bent over and tied down to this table.

Speaker:

It's not just her.

Speaker:

Like there's a whole bunch of 'em in these like crazy positions and Guy is standing

Speaker:

right behind her and they're both naked.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Like they did not skimp on that.

Speaker:

Like you don't see genitalia Exactly.

Speaker:

But it's not, it's not pleasant to see.

Speaker:

So like, yeah.

Speaker:

Then after that, they just kill all the dudes.

Speaker:

Like it's, yeah, no.

Speaker:

They're like, okay.

Speaker:

Actually every one of these soldiers has to die.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

They, they all have to die.

Speaker:

They all just, they can't breathe anymore like this.

Speaker:

I don't care if it's dishonorable or not.

Speaker:

Like all betts are off now.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

The only like, so this anime is one of those that are like, Not a lot

Speaker:

happens in every episode plot wise.

Speaker:

It's more about, right, talking about building it up right, building it up,

Speaker:

talking about theories, stuff like that.

Speaker:

In fact Butch Cassidy the Sundance Kid, Hannibal and Skeo, they haven't

Speaker:

they haven't even met up with, they haven't really done too much.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

All they've done is A show up in the world and the magicians were like, Hey, help us.

Speaker:

And they were like, we have no idea what's literally going on.

Speaker:

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

We don't know what you're doing.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Who are these people?

Speaker:

What is going on?

Speaker:

They're like, oh, too late.

Speaker:

We lost the fourth this run.

Speaker:

And so they're like, oh, okay, let's run.

Speaker:

And that's the whole Olympus episode for that one.

Speaker:

'cause Jon of Arc comes and she has like fire powers and stuff like that, right?

Speaker:

And she has like the dude behind her as gals de Reyes, who was

Speaker:

basically, he was a French nobleman.

Speaker:

That was Joan of Ark's, like right hand man or like Spearman

Speaker:

or whatever you wanna call it.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But yeah, no, and they were like, alright, well, you know, let's book it.

Speaker:

I will tell you though, one of the highlights that I thought so far was

Speaker:

pretty cool was whenever Toyo is facing the Lord, That first time, that first

Speaker:

time they go into and he beats this man almost to death with just the scabbard.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Started cutting this guy's head off.

Speaker:

Like he's been slicing up people this whole, you know, show whole time.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

He's like, you know what?

Speaker:

I'm just gonna start beating the crap out of him with like the actual

Speaker:

blunt end of my, of my sheath.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And no, Nanga was like, oh, , that's kind of.

Speaker:

That's kind of badass.

Speaker:

Like you were about, we thought you was just gonna cut his head off,

Speaker:

but you were just like, nah, I need to get this elf to kill this dude.

Speaker:

Nah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I gotta get the elf to do because that way the elves can like rise up and

Speaker:

have like pride in themselves, right?

Speaker:

Pride in themselves and no, it's.

Speaker:

I really enjoy the series so far.

Speaker:

But I'm these, this is my kind of anime where it's like a historical

Speaker:

battle royale fantasy Yeah.

Speaker:

Type of thing.

Speaker:

So other than the fact that they make Jon of Ark Evil, which I guess I kind

Speaker:

of understand where they're coming from.

Speaker:

So the reason why they're evil supposedly the enders are, is because they have.

Speaker:

Rejected humanity.

Speaker:

So in some ways in which they have died, they have now said, yeah, the

Speaker:

way they died, the way they died.

Speaker:

Now they, they hate humanity.

Speaker:

So it's like, okay, well Jon of our, I can kind of see that Saint Jermaine.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's iffy.

Speaker:

The black king, if he is who we think he is.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

It's like, you mean technically you supposed to, you know,

Speaker:

have been resurrected.

Speaker:

So it's like, When was this?

Speaker:

During the, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

It's like confusing then.

Speaker:

Like why would this have happened to him if he was, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

It doesn't really make any sense.

Speaker:

Adolf Hitler, I mean, that's, that's pretty, that's pretty.

Speaker:

He started, he the humans while he was alive.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So I get why he's, he's on that side.

Speaker:

Anastasia.

Speaker:

He's just, well, in the, in the anime, she's.

Speaker:

Pretty apathetic to the whole thing.

Speaker:

Like, yeah, she's like, she like, like freezes them so they go to sleep.

Speaker:

Not 'cause she like, she wants to like, just straight up murder them because, I

Speaker:

mean, you know, she died by firing squads.

Speaker:

So she's just kind of like, you know, I'm kind of, I don't really wanna do this.

Speaker:

I'm, I'm kind of done with all this.

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, imagine like you die to a firing squad and it's

Speaker:

like, oh, finally war is over.

Speaker:

And just to go to like another war.

Speaker:

It's like yeah, I'm, I'm good.

Speaker:

It's not, it's not exactly what I wanted to dom.

Speaker:

I'm chilling.

Speaker:

So this anyway is more for people who are, like you said, for like historical,

Speaker:

like historical stuff and like EEC high, it's basically historical fiction.

Speaker:

EEC high, right?

Speaker:

No, it's, it's definitely historical fiction.

Speaker:

Isaka like battle royale type of thing.

Speaker:

The.

Speaker:

We're not even, we haven't even gotten into the Good Park yet.

Speaker:

Like they haven't even, they haven't even had their like, main battle yet.

Speaker:

Yeah, no, everything's still building up.

Speaker:

It's still building up.

Speaker:

And this I feel like this is gonna be one of those enemies where it's

Speaker:

like they expect to have a season two, but never got a season two.

Speaker:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

Like the episodes they move kind of slow.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I'm not gonna lie, the plot moves kind of slow.

Speaker:

Like everything we just described to you is what happened

Speaker:

over the past six episodes.

Speaker:

Like yeah, we're missing some stuff where he made now we'll say this, they do

Speaker:

have some like war tactics that I didn't even not even know, know about that.

Speaker:

This thing called Salt Peter.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

I don't even know what salt Peter was.

Speaker:

We had to stop the anime and be like, Hey man, what is Salt Peter?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

This guy's like, all right, so OTA goes, well take all, take all the, all our

Speaker:

urine feces and dump it in this mound.

Speaker:

Also cut off their heads of the enemy's bodies and they also

Speaker:

put their bodies in this mound.

Speaker:

And in two years, well salt Peter.

Speaker:

And I'm like, he's doing what in the what for two years, bro?

Speaker:

You gonna wait two years for what?

Speaker:

And we had to look it up and it's like, oh, it's like gun powder and fertilizer.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I was like, what?

Speaker:

That's crazy.

Speaker:

Well, then also the other crazy part for OTA is the fact that he knocks out

Speaker:

the fact that he knocks out Toyo right before they execute the the men for

Speaker:

like raping all the women and stuff.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And dude's like, Hey man, what'd you knock me up for it?

Speaker:

Like, I'm a warrior too, which is one thing I will say about this.

Speaker:

It's like, Him and Oda have such similar personalities.

Speaker:

They kind of like are pushing to make like this father-son relationship.

Speaker:

It doesn't really, it's not really ringing very well 'cause

Speaker:

they're basically the same person.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Also, just disclaimer, it doesn't matter if you watch it dubbed or subbed, like

Speaker:

the first three episodes of this, there's some fictional language that these people

Speaker:

are speaking that is like mad annoying.

Speaker:

You know, usually when you watch a show and there's a fiction language, right?

Speaker:

Like, When they're talking to each other, it's either in, whatever the dub

Speaker:

is, whether it's Japanese or English or whatever, Spanish, whatever, right?

Speaker:

They'll, they'd say one or two words in their other language, right?

Speaker:

And then they'll start speaking whether the dub language is, so you

Speaker:

get it like, oh, they're speaking a different language, right?

Speaker:

These people went all away.

Speaker:

There was at least 10 minutes.

Speaker:

And each one of these episodes where they're speaking fully

Speaker:

this other language, That clearly has like no rules to it.

Speaker:

At least we, we were watching the dub version.

Speaker:

Yeah, we watched the dub version.

Speaker:

We were watching the dub, the English version.

Speaker:

So maybe in the Japanese version it's different, but I don't know.

Speaker:

We took a glimpse at it.

Speaker:

It looked like they're the same.

Speaker:

They're like,

Speaker:

and I'm like, and they say like, it sounds like some Star Wars.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Hutt.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Like it's clearly a fake language that they're just like saying random . And

Speaker:

you, you even like, Hey man, I kind of don't wanna watch this because

Speaker:

I can't get past the fake language.

Speaker:

And I was like, listen, it probably won't be like that forever.

Speaker:

Like people who like subbed will probably be more used to it 'cause

Speaker:

they don't speak Japanese and yet they like, they need to read subtitles.

Speaker:

But even then they aren't speaking Japanese.

Speaker:

They're speaking whatever language, random Gogo, Gaga language

Speaker:

pretending like it's something else.

Speaker:

Well, and then also You were talking about the father son relationship

Speaker:

between Toyo and Nobunaga.

Speaker:

The thing was, is in the very earlier episodes, Toyo was

Speaker:

like, Hey man, I ain't your son.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Like, if That'ss what you're trying to do here, I'm not with it.

Speaker:

You kill that.

Speaker:

Kill that right now.

Speaker:

Also, he's not a teenager.

Speaker:

He is like, yeah, I'm 30, bro.

Speaker:

Like, yeah.

Speaker:

I'm a, I'm a man.

Speaker:

Like, right, like that percent older.

Speaker:

I think you said he's like in his like forties.

Speaker:

In this one.

Speaker:

He, I think he's like 47 or 50.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

'cause remember whenever they were running towards the first confrontation, he was

Speaker:

like, haha, I'm so much faster than you.

Speaker:

And he was like, yeah, that's 'cause I'm 50 man.

Speaker:

Like, yeah.

Speaker:

And then what NASO, he's like 19.

Speaker:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker:

We were, this might be con controversial, but we were like debating on if

Speaker:

this person was a guy or a girl.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So we said, we said we watched a little bit of the sub, not that it matters,

Speaker:

not that it matters, but like we watched a little bit of the sub first

Speaker:

before we started watching the dub.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And in the sub, he's voiced by a woman, and the guy kind of has

Speaker:

this figure where he kinda looks like he's like in the middle.

Speaker:

Like you can't really tell Androgynous.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Androgynous.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So, but then in the dub they call him, he and say, talk to him like he's a man.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But in the sub it's not like that.

Speaker:

They kinda like refer to him like as if he's a woman.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So we were kind of confused.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It's not like, it's not like in dragon ball's.

Speaker:

He where like freeze is voiced by a woman in the dub.

Speaker:

But you could tell it's a, it's a, it's a girl.

Speaker:

It's the care just supposed to be a man.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But it's voiced by a woman.

Speaker:

Like they say, oh, frizza, he's so evil.

Speaker:

But in this one they're like, oh, okay.

Speaker:

In the subversion in Japan, this person's referred to as if it's a female, and

Speaker:

the dubs virtue to as it's a male.

Speaker:

I don't know if, look, maybe we caught something wrong.

Speaker:

I mean, we are, it is possible.

Speaker:

We are from the south, so Yeah.

Speaker:

Are southerners, we might not be that cultured.

Speaker:

We might, it might be just confusing to us or something like that.

Speaker:

Like I, dude, I have no idea, but Yeah, he's in, he's in drugs.

Speaker:

He also says that he has like 13 other brothers and sisters.

Speaker:

Now when you look up this person, historically, it says it's a guy.

Speaker:

So I'm not really sure.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But yeah, then it's like the, the Japanese people are referring to

Speaker:

this person as if they're a woman.

Speaker:

Here's the crazy part though, like not historically, but throughout the

Speaker:

characterization of elves, they're, they tend to be very attractive.

Speaker:

And they even say like, Hey man, like, You're like really good looking.

Speaker:

Yeah, they do say that.

Speaker:

And he was like, oh, I had, what did 13 si brothers and sisters and they were

Speaker:

all leagues leagues more attractive.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Do you, do you understand?

Speaker:

Do you believe me?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And they're like and they're like, whatever man.

Speaker:

I guess like, yeah.

Speaker:

Are you gonna teach us to shoot the bow and arrow like or not?

Speaker:

Yeah, it is.

Speaker:

So also one thing that I think is kind of interesting is that they

Speaker:

are, apparently there's like.

Speaker:

Just a guy who, we haven't really learned his name yet, but he is like an airplane.

Speaker:

He's like some sort of World War II Japanese fighter.

Speaker:

I think he, I don't know if he was a a Ka cosley pilot or what happened, but he's in

Speaker:

a pilot who shot down a bunch of dragons.

Speaker:

Dude, that was crazy.

Speaker:

It was an awesome scene.

Speaker:

And then that just like, he just crashes his plane and they're like,

Speaker:

oh, yep, I'm gonna fight people.

Speaker:

I hate to break it to you, but like, if you're, you feel like an airplane, how are

Speaker:

you gonna rebuild this airplane in this I.

Speaker:

Fantasy world.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

And if your skill is only, oh, I fly planes.

Speaker:

Sorry bro, there's no planes.

Speaker:

These other guys are ura and archers and like, you know,

Speaker:

dragons and magicians and Right.

Speaker:

Butch Cassidy into Sundance Kid, they have guns and gunpowder and ammo for

Speaker:

somehow they get like more ammo somehow.

Speaker:

Whatever.

Speaker:

Somehow, yeah.

Speaker:

Suspension of disbelief.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I mean like, at least with the Hannibal is, he's like, oh,

Speaker:

you know, I never had any guns.

Speaker:

So my whole thing is like I, I know what tactics.

Speaker:

If your thing is flying planes, there's no planes, bro.

Speaker:

I don't know how you're gonna do that.

Speaker:

Well, they might, they might do some do some hocus pocus and, you

Speaker:

know, I only got six episodes left.

Speaker:

I hope that I leave it up to chance for the second season that does not exist.

Speaker:

Yeah, well, I mean, do you think it was, do you think Well, I mean,

Speaker:

there's no seasons that are just six episodes, so, I mean, there, there

Speaker:

are some, an enemies where I, I, I mean, I haven't seen really any.

Speaker:

And if you guys know any listening that I, we love suggestions, but like

Speaker:

that are like only 12 episodes long.

Speaker:

I don't really know of any that are like that.

Speaker:

At first I thought that are even one season long.

Speaker:

I mean, I, were kind of newer.

Speaker:

We're kind newer to this anyway, right?

Speaker:

So it's very possible.

Speaker:

I mean, the only one that I know that I thought was going to be

Speaker:

one season was I saw part of Guan Log, not part of Guan Log.

Speaker:

I saw him part of code Gaz.

Speaker:

Yeah, and then I was told, oh, there's a second season of this.

Speaker:

I was like, oh, okay.

Speaker:

But even that one had a second.

Speaker:

So I have no idea.

Speaker:

Yeah, I don't, I don't know.

Speaker:

I'm, I'm, I'm really excited to watch.

Speaker:

It is a bit slow.

Speaker:

It is.

Speaker:

It's slow.

Speaker:

Yeah, it is a bit slow.

Speaker:

But it's still pretty good though.

Speaker:

It could be because we're, they talk a lot about like philosophy

Speaker:

and how they're doing all these tactics and there's not explanation.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

That's what it is.

Speaker:

We're just Americans and we're just like, get straight to the goal.

Speaker:

We wanna see, we wanna see violence, we wanna see people

Speaker:

getting up and like that.

Speaker:

We wanna, we wanna see it.

Speaker:

Just skip straight to it.

Speaker:

So, out of 10 what would you give it so far?

Speaker:

I'd give it like a, 7.5 outta 10.

Speaker:

Yeah, no, that's pretty solid.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'll go with that.

Speaker:

I'll go with 7.5.

Speaker:

Yeah, like, I mean, I'm trying to be partial impartial.

Speaker:

Because I mean, I really like it, but I mean, I can see how it's

Speaker:

not a, you know, Great lon saga.

Speaker:

Not, it's not everybody's thing.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But, alright.

Speaker:

Well this has been the review of drifters part one.

Speaker:

Part one, yeah.

Speaker:

And then we'll be right back with a part two.

Speaker:

If you guys really like Drifters and you think that it

Speaker:

deserves like a second season or something like that, let us know.

Speaker:

Or if you think we're like talking on it, you know?

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Or if you actually don't know who the Black King is, we said it might be Jesus.

Speaker:

We actually don't know.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Just a whole bunch of implications.

Speaker:

You actually do know.

Speaker:

I mean we're only on episode six, so, alright.

Speaker:

So we don't know.

Speaker:

And there's also no second season to possibly explain the rest of this, right.

Speaker:

So you do know, let us know and yeah, my name's DJ and I'm Nicholas.
