Transcript
Speaker:

Howdy, it's the Southern Senpai Show, where small town southerners explore

Speaker:

big time Japanese entertainment, anime, manga, and everything in between.

Speaker:

Here's your hosts, Nicholas and DJ.

Speaker:

What's going on y'all?

Speaker:

It's Southern Senpais, two southern guys who explore Japanese culture.

Speaker:

My name is Nicholas.

Speaker:

And I'm DJ.

Speaker:

And what are we talking about today, DJ?

Speaker:

Today we're reviewing Castlevania Nocturne.

Speaker:

Um, this first season.

Speaker:

Yes, this first, this first season.

Speaker:

It's on Netflix.

Speaker:

Netflix is really putting out some.

Speaker:

Some quality, uh, Netflix here and there, you know, quality anime.

Speaker:

They, they put out one or two good ones, that way they can sell

Speaker:

all the bad ones that they make.

Speaker:

It's not a bad business model.

Speaker:

It's not a bad one, right, because everyone's like, Oh, I gotta watch

Speaker:

this, because it, it's a possibility it could be good, because when

Speaker:

it is good, it's really good.

Speaker:

Now, let me ask you a question, DJ.

Speaker:

What did you like better?

Speaker:

Did you like Castlevania, or did you like Castlevania Nocturne better?

Speaker:

Uh, oof, that's a hard question to ask, mainly because Nocturne is not over.

Speaker:

I mean, with Castlevania, you have like, four seasons to

Speaker:

play like these characters.

Speaker:

Right, that's true, so maybe it's not fair to try and compare the two.

Speaker:

No, but I will say, I will compare it to, um, Avatar Last Emerander.

Speaker:

Because Avatar was really great, and then its successor, Korra,

Speaker:

had a really great first season.

Speaker:

Not really great, but it was, it was good.

Speaker:

It was in line with, right.

Speaker:

It was a good first season.

Speaker:

Like it really was like that first season of Cora with the

Speaker:

non benders and diverse benders.

Speaker:

And they were, that was kind of dope.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then it just kind of fell off a cliff.

Speaker:

So, but, um, and so I really hope that doesn't happen with not turn here

Speaker:

because I, I liked the first season and the second half is way better

Speaker:

than the first half, but, um, If I had to compare the two, of successors, I

Speaker:

would say Nocturne did a way better job of being a successor than Korra did.

Speaker:

Uh, just because it feels like it's getting better.

Speaker:

That's the crazy part about it.

Speaker:

You know what's really messed up?

Speaker:

You know what's really messed up?

Speaker:

You could be at the top of your game!

Speaker:

A material.

Speaker:

Great, great, a triple S score.

Speaker:

Great a beef over here.

Speaker:

Then you make a successor.

Speaker:

And if the first season of the successor, it's just like, instead of

Speaker:

being triple eight, it's like double eight people like, Oh, it sucks.

Speaker:

It's right.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But then if you create something that's triple eight, if you keep something

Speaker:

that's like double a material.

Speaker:

And then the sequel is also double A.

Speaker:

It's like, Oh, wow, it's a massive piece.

Speaker:

It's a great, it's a great continuation.

Speaker:

This one did a weird, it had a weird, uh, uh, uh, avenue.

Speaker:

It was like, all right, we, last one was triple A material.

Speaker:

We're going to start off in the season going A level and then end on a triple A.

Speaker:

And it's like, okay, you made me lose faith on purpose and then come back.

Speaker:

Cause now I feel like, oh, now I'm really rooting for it cause it's getting better.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

The, the first, the first couple of episodes were kind of like.

Speaker:

I'll give this a bit of some grace, right?

Speaker:

Because it's not terrible, but it's also not great.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I think that, um, I think, was this one that someone had asked us to watch?

Speaker:

I think it was.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Somebody was like, well, if you like Castlevania, we've got a DM

Speaker:

that said, if you like Castlevania, Castlevania Nocturne just came out.

Speaker:

So check that out.

Speaker:

The, uh.

Speaker:

Now, we usually do Japanese stuff, and this is not Japanese.

Speaker:

But it is anime.

Speaker:

But it is anime.

Speaker:

So, suck it.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Because other people working on it have names like, uh, Elekara Johnson.

Speaker:

What does it say?

Speaker:

E L A R I C A Johnson.

Speaker:

And I have no idea who this person is, but they have a strong last name.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Your last name.

Speaker:

That's why you like it.

Speaker:

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Speaker:

Elektra, or whatever is how you pronounce it.

Speaker:

Like, hit me up.

Speaker:

Like, let me, boom, boom.

Speaker:

Elorica.

Speaker:

Elorica.

Speaker:

Johnson.

Speaker:

Yeah, Eureka Johnson.

Speaker:

But, I don't even know what she does in this, by the way.

Speaker:

That's one thing I will say about Castlevania and Castlevania Nocturne.

Speaker:

In their credits, they just start showing names, they're never like, oh,

Speaker:

this person like voiced this character.

Speaker:

You know, with credits, they have like, what they did next to it, right?

Speaker:

They're like, yo, you know who it is, it's Elektra Johnson,

Speaker:

everyone, you know, everyone knows Elektra, you don't know Elektra.

Speaker:

That's just, that's just impossible.

Speaker:

Bro, but, I mean, so, the, the anime starts out, and Richter Belmont

Speaker:

is the next, is the next guy.

Speaker:

Whoa, hold up, it's been 300 years since the, since Trevor and Cypher.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So, but in this iteration, Richter is the next Belmont.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

And, I think the crazy part about it is, is so, um, What's his name?

Speaker:

The, uh, Native American vampire?

Speaker:

Aluxor?

Speaker:

Uh, uh, Ulrex.

Speaker:

Ulrex?

Speaker:

He's Aztec.

Speaker:

He's Aztec?

Speaker:

He's an Aztec vampire, yeah.

Speaker:

So I guess this is still technically Native American, right?

Speaker:

But so the crazy part is is his mom Richter's mom Richter's mom Gets

Speaker:

brutally murdered by all rocks.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah, I spoiler warning I guess but this is like the first episode

Speaker:

Also, the rest is gonna be spoiled.

Speaker:

Anyway, this is a review.

Speaker:

So right so if you didn't I mean, come on, man You already know what

Speaker:

the deal is like episode what?

Speaker:

A billion and a half by now.

Speaker:

But the crazy part is, later in the anime, they have to work together.

Speaker:

Yeah!

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

That, uh, I feel like there's a little bit of this that was pretty,

Speaker:

I didn't expect that to happen.

Speaker:

I didn't expect him to do that.

Speaker:

Um, what I did expect to happen was that, that, uh, uh, Richter

Speaker:

would eventually Use blue fire.

Speaker:

And the only reason I say that Because there's this huge color

Speaker:

scheme going on with this guy.

Speaker:

Everything is, this man is dripped down in blue like he's a crip.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

All the time.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

All the time.

Speaker:

I mean he was eventually going to get powers.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And it's like, because he's a Belmont it's like, you know, it's not, plus

Speaker:

his mother was using magic too.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And as a kid he started off using magic, but then it's like

Speaker:

he couldn't use magic later.

Speaker:

What do you, what do you think he is, how do you compare him to Trevor?

Speaker:

Which Belmont do you like better?

Speaker:

Oh, definitely Trevor.

Speaker:

Do you think it's 'cause you had more time with him or you think

Speaker:

that the character's just better?

Speaker:

I think the character's just better.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Uh, I think that, um, I think that Richter's a, a bit of a bitch.

Speaker:

, he does cry.

Speaker:

He does cry several times in this, well, I don't think it's because he cries.

Speaker:

It's just, but it, a lot of it just, it's not great character development.

Speaker:

Like yeah, it's.

Speaker:

I think that also, it kind of, part of the issue is that the world is super dark.

Speaker:

Cause the world starts being super dark.

Speaker:

There's vampires, and there's night creatures, and da da da da.

Speaker:

Trevor Belmont had his whole family destroyed in front of him.

Speaker:

Lost his house, his home, everything, and became a drunk.

Speaker:

And then, when he had to face up against some of the monsters that were

Speaker:

killing, like, some of the vampires.

Speaker:

Well, I mean, it wasn't Dracula exactly who murdered his parents, right?

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But when he had to come up against those monsters, right?

Speaker:

That destroyed his home and his life and stuff like that didn't bat an eye.

Speaker:

He was drunk at the time, but like he was like, you know Life sucks.

Speaker:

That's the way it is.

Speaker:

Take it on chin like a true Belmont and then I'm gonna go have sex

Speaker:

with this witch girl Bro, and then he meets his grandfather and his

Speaker:

grandfather's like Richard Richter.

Speaker:

Yeah I told, I told her.

Speaker:

She told you to come find me, didn't she?

Speaker:

What are you talking about?

Speaker:

You gotta explain who you're talking about, dude.

Speaker:

So, uh, Richter's grandfather.

Speaker:

What's his name?

Speaker:

Uh, uh, something.

Speaker:

Basically, Richter is like an adult at this point.

Speaker:

So, his mom dies.

Speaker:

Richter, fast forward to he's an adult.

Speaker:

He lives with his aunt and his cousin.

Speaker:

Uh, who are also Belmonts, but like distant Belmonts.

Speaker:

Right, Maria and uh, and her mom.

Speaker:

Terra.

Speaker:

Terra.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Maria and Terra.

Speaker:

The only reason I remember it being Terra is because I'm like, there's

Speaker:

always Because of Teen Titans, huh?

Speaker:

There's always so I swear, ever since that show Because of Teen Titans.

Speaker:

There's always a Terra.

Speaker:

I have never heard of that name prior to Teen Titans.

Speaker:

And then after Teen Titans, everyone's named Terra.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Everyone and everyone and their goldfish is named Terra for some reason.

Speaker:

But So he meets his grandfather, by chance, right?

Speaker:

And dude sends him over a plate, right?

Speaker:

And obviously whenever somebody does that, you know, you'd want

Speaker:

to go over there and talk to him.

Speaker:

And he was like, so what's up?

Speaker:

And he was like, I want you to get away.

Speaker:

Like, I gave you a meal, but fuck out my face.

Speaker:

Which is like, also, why did you do that if you want him to leave?

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Find out that there's a vampire that comes in, who's drunk.

Speaker:

Not drunk, but like, he's like, Oh, you said you'd kill me

Speaker:

next time you see me, old man.

Speaker:

And then that's exactly what he does.

Speaker:

He like, whips his head off.

Speaker:

I have to appreciate, I have to get me one of them.

Speaker:

Like, like, I, I, like, This whip is insane.

Speaker:

And you think that the, I, you'd be using the Morningstar?

Speaker:

Because that was like, the whip in the like, the last one, the

Speaker:

upgraded one, but I guess not.

Speaker:

No, well and the thing is is like the crazy part was is once he meets

Speaker:

his grandfather at the very end of the season I thought that was his

Speaker:

grandfather, because if you notice, like, they start talking and he

Speaker:

says he lost his powers, right?

Speaker:

That's how he be, that's, because when he meets him, he's like, hey

Speaker:

listen, um, you shouldn't take money for vampire killings, right?

Speaker:

Right, but it's not the Belmont way, you're supposed to kill

Speaker:

them just because they're evil.

Speaker:

Just because they're evil, and you shouldn't hide away.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

And he's like, well, my wife and daughter were killed by this chief vampire.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So that kind of, you know, put a damper on, on things.

Speaker:

And I lost all of my powers.

Speaker:

Apparently, that's how it works.

Speaker:

So...

Speaker:

If they're too much of a pussy, they'll lose their magic abilities.

Speaker:

And then that's how he Richter gained his powers, right?

Speaker:

He gained his powers back because he just decided like, oh, I guess

Speaker:

I'm not going to be a pussy anymore.

Speaker:

I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating.

Speaker:

But I'm not.

Speaker:

They're like We're really not.

Speaker:

He's like, kneeling down and sees some other He's got nothing.

Speaker:

And then he goes, you know what?

Speaker:

I wanna live.

Speaker:

Then he gets powers.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Do me a favor.

Speaker:

Super safe.

Speaker:

Let me ask you a question.

Speaker:

Doesn't the whip kinda look like a cigar?

Speaker:

Like the, like the beginning of the whip.

Speaker:

Oh, like the handle of it.

Speaker:

Yeah, and it's got the gold.

Speaker:

Doesn't it look like a cigar?

Speaker:

It does look like a cigar.

Speaker:

Okay, so you're, so if the whip's a cigar, what kind of cigar do you think it is?

Speaker:

Uh, it's a Monte Crisco.

Speaker:

You think?

Speaker:

I, you know, a Cuban.

Speaker:

You know?

Speaker:

It's a vampire killing cigar, man.

Speaker:

It also is weird to hear them talk about...

Speaker:

So it takes place in France, by the way, and it's weird to hear

Speaker:

them talk about, like, America.

Speaker:

There is a certain section of America that, first of all, this is back in

Speaker:

the day America, so they have, like, African slaves and stuff like that.

Speaker:

There's slavery, there's a storyline of slavery in there.

Speaker:

But, Nicholas!

Speaker:

Yeah?

Speaker:

Would you like to inform us on which part of America this is?

Speaker:

So this is probably in New Orleans.

Speaker:

Oh yeah?

Speaker:

And what the Really?

Speaker:

The Slave Masters live in New Orleans?

Speaker:

The Vampire Slave Masters?

Speaker:

What, what, what would you they have this symbol on their hand that

Speaker:

they use called a Fleur de lis.

Speaker:

Oh, what is it?

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

And a Fleur de lis is French, and it's also the saint symbol.

Speaker:

So, that's kind of how I figured, you know, they might be in New Orleans.

Speaker:

Because they said it's in America, and they had to send it.

Speaker:

To be fair, these brands they were using, Usually when they branded

Speaker:

sleeves, they just, you just brand them.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Cause they're, they're sleeves.

Speaker:

You just do it anywhere.

Speaker:

I guess, her, like this is, this is black chick who's like a runaway sleeve in it.

Speaker:

Um.

Speaker:

And she has like her own, she's like descended from a god.

Speaker:

So uh, spoiler alert, there are gods now, outside of the, who apparently have

Speaker:

gotten jiggy with one of the mortals.

Speaker:

Also, let's not forget, dude, the best part about this show is the character

Speaker:

design, much less the monster design, cause me and you both were both saying,

Speaker:

bro, look at this Look at this designs for these monsters whenever she becomes

Speaker:

Um cement or what's the warrior god the cement she turns into a like a

Speaker:

lion Yeah, there's a vampire messiah.

Speaker:

There's like and it's weird because they're they're partnering up with like

Speaker:

the church And man, I knew tara and that the abbot I knew that the abbot was, uh,

Speaker:

uh, Tara's daughter, Maria's, uh, father.

Speaker:

Because they were all blonde?

Speaker:

I don't know why they thought that would be a twist!

Speaker:

The only two blonde people in the entire show have a blonde child!

Speaker:

Wha Who's her dad?

Speaker:

I don't know, maybe the only other blonde guy in the entire series.

Speaker:

Maybe, maybe it's that guy.

Speaker:

Oh, oh, what a twist.

Speaker:

Oh, what a twist.

Speaker:

Genetics.

Speaker:

The, uh, the guy that was his like second hand man, he's like, He

Speaker:

has no child, and the, and the God is like, men lead by their balls.

Speaker:

Like, what do you mean?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Like, of course.

Speaker:

Not only that, I'm like I hate to, I hate to beat a dead horse,

Speaker:

but you've seen this person.

Speaker:

She looks exactly like you and her Right.

Speaker:

They're all blonde haired and blue eyed and this is apparently back in the day

Speaker:

France Dude, how wild is it that so this man is so demented that He takes one

Speaker:

of the stories in the Bible and he's like, well, I have to sacrifice my kid.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

He's trying to kill his daughter, Maria.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then at the end, the mom's like, she puts a ram.

Speaker:

There's a ram that gets sacrificed at the end.

Speaker:

Not the kid.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And then she ends up being the ram herself.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

She ends up like, because the guy, because he's sitting there saying

Speaker:

like, God, you know, please don't.

Speaker:

You know don't leave me like I really need help here like let me kill

Speaker:

my own right and he was like Oh, why didn't God send a ram for me?

Speaker:

Just like you said for Isaac because you know, I was gonna stab her for them

Speaker:

and ironically There there is a right and she was like, I'm the ram right

Speaker:

but dude, that's That's crazy though.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, this series is really good.

Speaker:

Uh, The fight scenes in this series.

Speaker:

Dude, I like, I will say this, I like Richter's style of fighting.

Speaker:

Cause Trevor, you know, he does a lot with the whip.

Speaker:

He's very acrobatic kind of, you know, Right.

Speaker:

Especially for a guy who's clearly like 45 at least.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But Richter, he's like, yeah, a lot younger.

Speaker:

He's like, you know what?

Speaker:

Eight.

Speaker:

For real though, fuck this whip shit.

Speaker:

I'd rather just box.

Speaker:

He like, doesn't use his whip several times.

Speaker:

He puts down the whip and he's like, Nah, I'd just rather just put my hands When

Speaker:

he gets his powers, he starts boxing.

Speaker:

Right!

Speaker:

He's like, oh, now that I have powers, I'm just gonna start fighting with my hands.

Speaker:

I'm just gonna do some Dragon Ball Z shit and just fuckin blow their heads off.

Speaker:

I You know, it's crazy to see A Belmont how a Belmont would use powers because the

Speaker:

other speakers Like they kind of like are doing stuff like cypher was doing right

Speaker:

except for maria who summons animals I have no idea what's going on with that.

Speaker:

I the summon animals part is only You can only do that in anime because that

Speaker:

wouldn't work in real life Oh, but the fire would fire out the hands.

Speaker:

Yeah, that would, that would show work in real life.

Speaker:

Oh, I'll tell you what really works in real life.

Speaker:

You can do a whip, a whip, a whip, bro, bro.

Speaker:

I go, I see Richter.

Speaker:

Richter actually really used like Trevor uses the whip in like a way that oh,

Speaker:

it's like a weapon Richter does not Richter's like Richter Uses that whip

Speaker:

like it's his hand richter uses that whip like uh, like a dad uses a belt

Speaker:

when a kid cusses out his mom like this man is There's a scene when they're

Speaker:

underground trying to rescue one of their friends and a monster is literally

Speaker:

all kneeling down taking a break.

Speaker:

You see all the wit marks on him and Rick is like, yeah, I kill fucking vampires.

Speaker:

What's up?

Speaker:

What's up?

Speaker:

He's like, please.

Speaker:

He's like, bro.

Speaker:

I was feeling bad for the monsters.

Speaker:

Oh my god, he's getting...

Speaker:

I can feel that, man!

Speaker:

Jesus!

Speaker:

But um, and then there's the fight scene with, uh, with the lead vampire lady.

Speaker:

Not the one that's the god, but it's the lead vampire lady.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And he is just The one who looks like Nicki Minaj.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

He is whippin the shit out of this girl.

Speaker:

Bro.

Speaker:

To where I'm just like Hey, man, what are y'all doing?

Speaker:

Like?

Speaker:

Some people are gonna say, this is racist.

Speaker:

The lead vampire girl, she's black.

Speaker:

And this man is just, watch out, watch out.

Speaker:

I was like, damn.

Speaker:

This man gets her so bad, he whips her right in the forehead.

Speaker:

Splits her head open.

Speaker:

And we're just like.

Speaker:

Bro, like you could have killed her by now.

Speaker:

It is like nah, this is a lot more fun

Speaker:

That's baseball for the shit out of these people Dude, I was just like yo but all

Speaker:

overall, I mean, I think the the fight scenes are just Absolutely incredible.

Speaker:

What's crazy is that the fight scenes are really good throughout it But like

Speaker:

we said earlier it starts off not as good and then it gets really good Not that

Speaker:

the beginning is bad Because it's not.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

But, you know, it just gets way better on and you can kind of feel there's like,

Speaker:

has been some sort of shift Possibly in the people who work there because we're

Speaker:

halfway through the designs go from like double A Designs go from like a level

Speaker:

to like triple A and so does the story.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And so does the action and you're like I Feel like they just let random

Speaker:

people work on this first part And then they brought in like the real

Speaker:

people that do it on the second part.

Speaker:

Dude, I was like Because when I was watching, I was like, you know,

Speaker:

this is all right, you know, because I myself am not an anime snob.

Speaker:

Like I've said multiple times, DJ is an anime snob.

Speaker:

I watch something for what it is, not what it could be.

Speaker:

And DJ watches it for what it could be and not what it is.

Speaker:

Well, you know, we're watching Bastard next.

Speaker:

So yeah, it's hilarious.

Speaker:

I do think faster is pretty fun, but no, I, overall, what would you give this?

Speaker:

What would you give this anime?

Speaker:

One to 10, you know, Mr.

Speaker:

Snob, uh, out of 10, I give this first season a solid seven, a solid seven.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Mainly because like it started off kind of on a low, but it ended really good.

Speaker:

And I just, I feel like it's going to have a really great, well, first.

Speaker:

The ending, saying Alucard at the end.

Speaker:

Yeah, well I didn't want to, cause I hadn't seen it before you did, so

Speaker:

I didn't want to spoil it for you.

Speaker:

Who did you initially think was, was that person?

Speaker:

I thought it was the grandfather too.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I was like, oh he's the grandfather, but it's Alucard.

Speaker:

And I was like, cause I was thinking in my head, I was like, dude, I've played

Speaker:

a lot of the Castlevania games, and I think I remember, I was a kid, but

Speaker:

I was like, I'm pretty sure Alucard.

Speaker:

Was in the video game with Richter, but I guess I was wrong and then he shows

Speaker:

up and I was like, oh That's awesome.

Speaker:

Yeah, but uh, and apparently they don't know who Dracula is

Speaker:

Like in the yeah at the very end.

Speaker:

They're like, who's Dracula?

Speaker:

I'm like, bro.

Speaker:

Are you serious?

Speaker:

You don't know who Dracula is the world almost I'm like, whatever

Speaker:

because you know The speakers are supposed to pass down knowledge.

Speaker:

They've been fucking up Apparently apparently they've been fucking up

Speaker:

because they don't know who Dracula is No, apparently they're messing up because it's

Speaker:

like the guy's like the son of Dracula and girls like who's Dracula you're like what?

Speaker:

What how do you not know who Dracula is?

Speaker:

I'm gonna chalk this up to you being a slave and not being educated, right?

Speaker:

And then the thing is is you see the vampires.

Speaker:

They're late.

Speaker:

He's like listen if you kill me Or if you try and fight me, you will die like

Speaker:

the thousands of vampires I've fought.

Speaker:

Now mind you, he's floating, and his sword is floating.

Speaker:

Right, and I love how all the other, like, vampires just look at each

Speaker:

other like, Yeah, we're gonna leave.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We're just gonna, I'mma, you got it, bro.

Speaker:

You got it, man.

Speaker:

I'm not even gonna lie to you.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But, yeah, dude, she blotted out the entire sun for the anime.

Speaker:

Like, that's...

Speaker:

This queen vampire, she's like, Oh, I'm the new messiah.

Speaker:

And she's like, I'm the vampire's messiah.

Speaker:

I'm not the human messiah, I'm the vampire messiah.

Speaker:

And the, uh, the Alcarox was, was, was, was the most powerful

Speaker:

vampire we had seen at the time.

Speaker:

He can turn into like this dragon thing.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And it's the one that killed Richter's, uh, uh, mom.

Speaker:

But then she's like, no, I don't really have a power holding you.

Speaker:

And he's like, eh, I don't really bow to anyone.

Speaker:

Then this woman does a Rasengan that blocks out the sun.

Speaker:

And he's like.

Speaker:

You got it.

Speaker:

You got it, man.

Speaker:

, you got it.

Speaker:

That, that's like basically what happened, like the whole last three episodes.

Speaker:

Just like all everyone that you know is super powerful.

Speaker:

Someone else more powerful shows up and they're all just go, you got it.

Speaker:

Do you think the Vampire Messiah or what she calls herself, this is a,

Speaker:

this is a question that I have because she actually says that she's a God.

Speaker:

Right, she says that she's a god, right?

Speaker:

Because she has the blood of Cemet in her?

Speaker:

Um, now, what I would ask you, because this is the question that I would

Speaker:

have, or I'm going to pose to you, is whenever she was by that pool, and

Speaker:

then she turned into that lion thing.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Do you think that...

Speaker:

That was just the lot, that was just the goddess inhabiting the body?

Speaker:

Or do you think that it was just the vampire queen ascending to a

Speaker:

more powerful form like, like, uh, Dragon Ball Z and Super Saiyan?

Speaker:

Yeah, yeah, I think, I think, I think it was she was ascending.

Speaker:

And it was interesting because she's like referencing like, the, so we said cement,

Speaker:

this is, this is like, Egyptian mythology.

Speaker:

And, I mean.

Speaker:

She's like, I'm going to get Roth to worship me.

Speaker:

She's like, ivory, and there's like, black vampires.

Speaker:

Which I guess isn't really a big of a deal, but what makes me confused

Speaker:

is that like, she's Russian?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And yet she's the, there's also got, this is what's confusing to me.

Speaker:

So I mean, and I guess, I don't know why, like, okay, so heaven and hell in

Speaker:

this series is obviously real because you have vampires and night creatures

Speaker:

who are from hell and da da da.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So then, you know, it's like, okay, Christian, Christian lore is confirmed.

Speaker:

Okay, but then what about Sameth?

Speaker:

And like these other like And Ra.

Speaker:

And Ra, all right.

Speaker:

And like, uh, uh, uh, whatever god that the black chick is descended from.

Speaker:

I'm like, okay, so there are other gods And those are African gods.

Speaker:

And those are African gods, right.

Speaker:

There are other gods.

Speaker:

Well, I, actually, you know what?

Speaker:

To be fair, Yahweh, the Christian god, is an African god.

Speaker:

Oh, really?

Speaker:

I didn't know that.

Speaker:

I didn't know.

Speaker:

Because you have multiple, you have multiple systems of gods, because,

Speaker:

remember, whenever uh, Richter runs away, she was like, that

Speaker:

fucking bitch, he just ran away.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And the mom, cause she performs that ceremony, and starts And that's

Speaker:

definitely not from Black Panther.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

She performs Not ripping off Black Panther.

Speaker:

And she was like, yeah, everybody runs away.

Speaker:

She was like you're not seriously equating this white man running away from a fight

Speaker:

to slaves running away for their freedom and I love how her mom was like Kind

Speaker:

of I mean you ran away from your master because you were afraid of him instead

Speaker:

and then you only recently killed him And I'm like, damn mom, why you gotta

Speaker:

hit her with the truth like that, bro?

Speaker:

Bruh.

Speaker:

And then she, uh, but she was like, she's so powerful.

Speaker:

And she was like, yeah, but you're powerful too.

Speaker:

You're just not listening to your ancestors.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Like Black Panther.

Speaker:

I don't know why they did that.

Speaker:

It was like, they saw Black Panther.

Speaker:

And it was like.

Speaker:

Because in the video game she's uh, caucasian.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Although, ironically, she's still a slave in the ca in the in the That's

Speaker:

the crazy part that you were telling me when we first started watching this.

Speaker:

You were you were like, This chick is white in the In the video game.

Speaker:

In the video games.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And you were telling me a lot of people were mad that she was black

Speaker:

and you Everybody was like, I mean, it's not that big of a character.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Which it is, though.

Speaker:

Like, it's a huge character.

Speaker:

Yeah, but she's not She's not the main Like Like, it would be way different If

Speaker:

they just made her DJ's Like, come on.

Speaker:

Let's be real here, alright?

Speaker:

All the main leads are still the same people.

Speaker:

DJ's like, let me have one.

Speaker:

Okay?

Speaker:

And she was also, um, I'm pretty sure she was still a slave in the games.

Speaker:

So, I think they just did that to modernize it, because to be fair,

Speaker:

The games are made about these caucasian european people, right,

Speaker:

but the video game is japanese Let's get it all out in the open here.

Speaker:

It's a japanese video game that's made about some Really I think just

Speaker:

because and I don't know if you know this but in japan Christianity is

Speaker:

not the number one religion, right?

Speaker:

It's buddhism, right?

Speaker:

Uh, yes.

Speaker:

Yeah, they have zen buddhism, right?

Speaker:

um so I forgot who it was, but they did like this study on question like, Oh, why

Speaker:

do so many animes have so many Christian, you know, mythology to it and why,

Speaker:

why, why do a lot of Japanese and Asian artists draw a whole bunch of Christianity

Speaker:

or they convert to Christianity?

Speaker:

It turns out they just think the designs are cool, man.

Speaker:

Did you know that?

Speaker:

No, I did not.

Speaker:

The designs are cool.

Speaker:

It's like when, it's like how a whole bunch of Americans love

Speaker:

to use Greek mythology and all of their video games and stuff.

Speaker:

It's the same for them.

Speaker:

Like, they're like, oh, I just used Christmas style because it's cool.

Speaker:

Not because I believe in this.

Speaker:

Because it's cool, man.

Speaker:

So, that's why.

Speaker:

That's because I believe in Jesus.

Speaker:

I think it's just cool.

Speaker:

You know, so.

Speaker:

Sprinkle some Jesus in there.

Speaker:

Sprinkle, sprinkle.

Speaker:

We need some art for this.

Speaker:

Hey man, you see that, uh, you see those two sticks and a cross over there?

Speaker:

Oh bro, I heard about that.

Speaker:

That's cool!

Speaker:

Bro, speaking of crosses, whenever she trapped her master The black chick, yeah.

Speaker:

The black chick trapped her former master and This man did not flinch.

Speaker:

He was just like, yeah, you really think you can beat me?

Speaker:

You really think?

Speaker:

And she's like, well, first of all, you're scared of crosses And I have you

Speaker:

in a cage made of crosses and you can't get out and the Sun is rising and you're

Speaker:

about to die as well You're a slave.

Speaker:

No, I'm not.

Speaker:

It is the natural order of things.

Speaker:

This man, just delusion towards the end.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

He was like, well, you're still a slave and I'm still a master and, and,

Speaker:

and the Van Brack Queens gonna, and she's like, it's just, it's just like

Speaker:

a little confusion on her face where she's just like, you're going to die.

Speaker:

Like do you not understand what's happening right now?

Speaker:

Like you cannot get out of this cage.

Speaker:

I am killing you.

Speaker:

And all you talk about is how you're the master.

Speaker:

You're not the master!

Speaker:

You're about to die!

Speaker:

Right!

Speaker:

That's why I branded you, cause you're a slave!

Speaker:

You have a brand on your forehead!

Speaker:

Right!

Speaker:

And it's like, bro, you could've just turned into a, yeah, he

Speaker:

has a brand on his forehead.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

That's what she's like.

Speaker:

He might have a brand on your forehead.

Speaker:

Mine is on my hand.

Speaker:

And he's like, well, it's cause she's the messiah.

Speaker:

And she's gonna be, you have no idea of her greatness.

Speaker:

Bro, I'm like, she's not gonna bang you, bro.

Speaker:

Chill out with that.

Speaker:

She's not gonna let you hit, bro.

Speaker:

You're not.

Speaker:

That's like every girl.

Speaker:

That's like every guy defending Amber Heard It's like bro.

Speaker:

She's not gonna have sex.

Speaker:

She's not gonna.

Speaker:

No, Amber Heard's not gonna walk in and be like, oh my gosh I heard

Speaker:

you were defending me on Twitter.

Speaker:

Let me blow you right now.

Speaker:

Right!

Speaker:

Oh, I heard Oh, uh, uh SuperHaloFan4825, I heard what you said on Twitter.

Speaker:

Dude, that's like when we were at your play your friend's place, and he was he

Speaker:

said some shit, and I was like, Hey man, Amber Heard's not gonna fuck you, man.

Speaker:

Yeah, it was one of my, uh, friend's roommates, and he was like,

Speaker:

Well, you know, you don't really know what happened with Amber.

Speaker:

And I'm like, yes we do.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Multiple tapes of it.

Speaker:

Yeah, and She admits to it!

Speaker:

Headcourt!

Speaker:

And, she had to go live somewhere else.

Speaker:

She lives in like, Italy or somewhere.

Speaker:

Yeah!

Speaker:

Crazy.

Speaker:

So I think that Nocturne, um, But I think Nocturne is a

Speaker:

pretty good successor so far.

Speaker:

I think what it's really missing from, Alucard, I'm pretty sure,

Speaker:

Like, it's getting better.

Speaker:

So I'm really excited to see the second season.

Speaker:

Yeah, no, I'm excited.

Speaker:

Netflix, Netflix.

Speaker:

Does cancel this series.

Speaker:

I'm going to draw a line.

Speaker:

It's going to be a line for me.

Speaker:

I'll cancel my subscription.

Speaker:

I'm going to be like, bro, I'm tired of you cancelling all the good shows that

Speaker:

we'd like to see because you're trying to push these bad ones down our throats.

Speaker:

Like, no.

Speaker:

I want to watch the good stuff.

Speaker:

Stop making bad stuff.

Speaker:

You know, but I think, I think Nocturne is doing pretty good.

Speaker:

What do you, what would you rank it out of 10?

Speaker:

I would rank it, I'd probably rank it like a 7.

Speaker:

5.

Speaker:

You know, maybe, maybe, maybe an 8.

Speaker:

What is, what is, uh, um, what does it lie, like if this was not a Cause

Speaker:

it's like a, it's not a spinoff.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

It's more like a sequel, right?

Speaker:

So, but if this was like, if it was titled like Castlevania season

Speaker:

five, where would it be then?

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Uh, this, uh, probably be like a five.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker:

Like on his own, it's, it has his own like little ranking.

Speaker:

Like it would, it would be a lot higher if the, if the episodes at the beginning.

Speaker:

Were a lot better.

Speaker:

Now, I'll give you the first episode, right?

Speaker:

Even though the first episode me.

Speaker:

Either you catch me or you lose me in the first episode.

Speaker:

That's supposed to be the best one.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It's supposed to be the one that's make me interested and you're like, Ah,

Speaker:

this is going to be my laziest writing.

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

And why are you right?

Speaker:

Because I watched the rest of the episodes.

Speaker:

That's what really makes me mad.

Speaker:

But, yeah, no, I, I, it got really good towards the end, I think.

Speaker:

But I think it got really good too late.

Speaker:

Yeah, would you so when would you so for people out there listening?

Speaker:

When would you say that the episode it gets good because it has like come on

Speaker:

Uh, i'm checking right now, let me see how many episodes It has 8 episodes.

Speaker:

I would say, I would say, around season 5 or 6.

Speaker:

Season?

Speaker:

The episode 5 or 6?

Speaker:

I mean, episode 5 or 6.

Speaker:

And probably episode 5.

Speaker:

Gazed into the future like, that's a raven.

Speaker:

I was like, WOAH!

Speaker:

Season 5 must be crazy!

Speaker:

Yeah, I think, you know, maybe 5 or 6 is when it started to get, like, really good.

Speaker:

Uh, what do you think, like, Richter...

Speaker:

What do you think?

Speaker:

What episode do you think...

Speaker:

I would have to say 5 5, it starts to really pop off.

Speaker:

Like, the first...

Speaker:

1 and 2 really feel like one episode.

Speaker:

I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker:

It feels like one episode.

Speaker:

They got split in half, and then they made 3 and 4, and then they kicked,

Speaker:

they fired all of those people.

Speaker:

I mean, they had to.

Speaker:

There's a guy called Edouard...

Speaker:

Who is like this black guy that sings and his first time singing and

Speaker:

like episode three, he is terrible.

Speaker:

He is.

Speaker:

And the scene goes on for a long time.

Speaker:

Everyone listening to me now, listen to my voice.

Speaker:

Imagine me singing.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

That's what that guy sounds like.

Speaker:

We thought he was like.

Speaker:

We thought it was like some sort of joke, or maybe he has so

Speaker:

much trauma, so which is why...

Speaker:

Like he was cry singing or something, yeah.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But no, after this one time, Edward sings amazing.

Speaker:

His voice isn't even the same after this.

Speaker:

Guaranteed that previous guy got fired.

Speaker:

That's why I'm like, I think everyone who worked on the first couple

Speaker:

episodes must have been like...

Speaker:

I don't know, like the, uh, uh, the executives kids who just wanted to try out

Speaker:

something to be part of Famous Something.

Speaker:

Then they hired real actual artists and singers for the rest of it.

Speaker:

Because even when the, even when the African girl goes

Speaker:

down there to save Edward...

Speaker:

He's like my voice is so pure and so great that it it's light in the darkness of

Speaker:

these creatures I can't leave just yet.

Speaker:

That's how good this dude is.

Speaker:

Yeah, and then at first we were like, no, it's not I've heard it

Speaker:

and then he's opens his mouth.

Speaker:

He sings something.

Speaker:

I was like, oh wow That's flex.

Speaker:

But uh, yeah guys, this is a Southern Senpais what so Alright, my final verdict

Speaker:

is, is 7, you gotta give it something.

Speaker:

Is 5.

Speaker:

Do you think it's gonna get, how many seasons do you think it's gonna get?

Speaker:

I think it might get another season.

Speaker:

Uh, Netflix is pretty famous for, uh, you know, cancelling animes after two seasons.

Speaker:

Alright, cool.

Speaker:

Well, we think it's gonna get another season.

Speaker:

Uh, 7, and 7.

Speaker:

5 is the verdict, so I guess an average of like, 7.

Speaker:

2.

Speaker:

Three, I guess we're not math people.

Speaker:

Yeah, right.

Speaker:

I don't know why but anyway, this has been southern senpais.
