Transcript
Speaker:

Howdy, it's the Southern Senpai Show, where small town Southerners explore

Speaker:

big time Japanese entertainment, anime, manga, and everything in between.

Speaker:

Here's your hosts, Nicholas and DJ.

Speaker:

What's going on y'all, Southern Senpais here.

Speaker:

We sure are, and what are we going to do today, Nicholas?

Speaker:

What are we talking about today?

Speaker:

You know you fucked up that intro.

Speaker:

Yeah, I fucked up the intro.

Speaker:

So anyway, we're we're looking at Psychopass Episodes 1 through 4.

Speaker:

Previously we had talked about doing this anime because we saw the movie.

Speaker:

The movie was good.

Speaker:

Yeah, the movie was good.

Speaker:

And then we also saw The first episode was pretty good.

Speaker:

The first episode was pretty good.

Speaker:

But now we're doing a review of 1 through 4.

Speaker:

I'm done with this anime.

Speaker:

We've had a bit of a change of tone here.

Speaker:

It's just It has the potential to be a really good anime, but

Speaker:

it just drops the whole ball.

Speaker:

It just, it's repetitive and boring.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And there's not any character progression.

Speaker:

It feels forced.

Speaker:

We're like in episode 4.

Speaker:

The episode 2, all she did was like, Oh, I need to decide if I

Speaker:

want to be in this job or not.

Speaker:

You know what?

Speaker:

In the end, I do.

Speaker:

You took an whole episode to do that?

Speaker:

To decide?

Speaker:

And then one of the, one of the hunting dogs they call him was like, Hey, listen.

Speaker:

You get to decide what your fate is.

Speaker:

Yeah, apparently she's so awesome, like in this world like this, like the law

Speaker:

system also chooses what job you can have.

Speaker:

And, but she's so cool, and she has any job that she wants to.

Speaker:

She, her scores are so high, she can do literally whatever she wants.

Speaker:

And she's oh my god, what's the meaning of life?

Speaker:

Is this the job for me?

Speaker:

And the guy's this is all I can do.

Speaker:

This is all I've been able to do.

Speaker:

Since I was like five.

Speaker:

Yeah, since I was five.

Speaker:

So maybe stop bitching so much and just do it or not do it.

Speaker:

He was like, I've been in jail since I was five because I

Speaker:

could potentially be a criminal.

Speaker:

Which makes a lot of sense.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

He was like, I was trying really hard not to be a dick, but

Speaker:

you're really making it hard.

Speaker:

Not to be one.

Speaker:

That was the only scene in that episode I liked.

Speaker:

Yeah, and then episode three Basically, there's some guy who works in a factory

Speaker:

and he's crazy, but he's so predictable.

Speaker:

They're like, oh who could be the killer?

Speaker:

Maybe it's the guy who's getting picked on all the time.

Speaker:

Yeah, and beat up all the time Of course, he's gonna be the one who gets

Speaker:

pissed off and want to kill people.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's very predictable and the thing is They're cut off from

Speaker:

everybody else, so the way they kill time is by bullying each other.

Speaker:

No, bullying one person.

Speaker:

Bullying one person.

Speaker:

And of course, that's the guy who wants to kill people.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's very predictable, and they keep their crime coefficient down.

Speaker:

But also, they don't because everything is completely analog, and you can't

Speaker:

use any technology inside there.

Speaker:

I honestly think that this episode was but those two episodes were

Speaker:

like, I feel like, this episode 4 should have been like the second one.

Speaker:

Because it seems like they're actually building towards something oh you have

Speaker:

a killer, in the fourth episode, there's it's about avatars, and someone's killing

Speaker:

people's online, The actual people controlling their avatars so instead of

Speaker:

what then the avatars to walk around doing stuff we had a hint that's what's that.

Speaker:

That's what was happening is the thing was that they were talking about it.

Speaker:

They were like, what happened to him?

Speaker:

He's he hasn't used any money.

Speaker:

He's got a lot of it He well, maybe he went on vacation.

Speaker:

That's an avatar called the talisman maybe he's on vacation.

Speaker:

Yeah, you can't go anywhere without us knowing.

Speaker:

And then the other dude was like it's quite obvious, isn't it guys?

Speaker:

He's dead right because the plumbing is all backed up and then of course

Speaker:

they look in the sewers and oh chopped up bodies So it's okay.

Speaker:

There's some murderer going around murdering.

Speaker:

That's interesting oh, someone could kill you but still live your digital life.

Speaker:

That's interesting That's yeah But and then I guess they set it up to where

Speaker:

oh, it's potentially some killer person cuz then they kill They do it again to

Speaker:

somebody else at the end of the episode.

Speaker:

But then Okay, this episode is setting up something that was gonna make me watch the

Speaker:

next episode two and three do not do that No, so what can I've already burnt out?

Speaker:

At this point.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'm I'm good on this anime.

Speaker:

I really don't like it.

Speaker:

No Yeah, dude, I don't know worthy what else is there to say about this

Speaker:

I mean There really isn't a whole lot to say Alright guys I am referring

Speaker:

to, I do not know how to stretch out this review These people, there's

Speaker:

like nothing, like nothing happens.

Speaker:

An actual okay.

Speaker:

In the actual four episodes, not a whole lot happens.

Speaker:

In the first episode, you get introduced to okay there's these

Speaker:

people who are like dogs and then they because they're latent criminals.

Speaker:

If you listen to the previous two episodes, it's okay, they're

Speaker:

latent criminals, then they go, find other people who are latent

Speaker:

criminals, and that was cool, right?

Speaker:

Cause you could predict what they're gonna do, but that also makes

Speaker:

them criminals, stuff like that.

Speaker:

And then she ends up shooting one of them that first episode was cool.

Speaker:

It's pretty cool.

Speaker:

But then it, but then it just becomes one note the rest of the anime.

Speaker:

It looks like second, the second episode and the third episode

Speaker:

are trying to recapture the awesomeness of the first episode.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's it's just, it just becomes very redundant and

Speaker:

has four seasons and a movie.

Speaker:

This thing has four seasons.

Speaker:

And a movie.

Speaker:

And the movie is good.

Speaker:

The first episode's good.

Speaker:

So I feel like somewhere else around here, it's probably good.

Speaker:

But I was telling this to Nicholas.

Speaker:

I was like, look.

Speaker:

I am not that type of person.

Speaker:

Don't tell me it gets good at episode 6.

Speaker:

Or don't tell me it gets good at episode 8.

Speaker:

Just make it good From the beginning.

Speaker:

Here's so we just did Bleach Blood War.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Thousand Year Blood War.

Speaker:

Blood War.

Speaker:

Bleach Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Those episodes were really good.

Speaker:

Now We couldn't keep up with everything that was going on.

Speaker:

Because the pacing was so incredibly fast.

Speaker:

Bleach is known to really stretch out its episodes.

Speaker:

Yeah, but for some reason they decided they were like, you know what?

Speaker:

We're not stretching shit.

Speaker:

In fact, we're condensing it for Bleach.

Speaker:

All of them.

Speaker:

Take their inspiration from Dragon Ball Z.

Speaker:

Remember back in the day with Toonami, It took like NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL

Speaker:

Z It took ten episodes to do a fight.

Speaker:

Because they were sitting there talking to each other the whole time.

Speaker:

And that, and Toriyama's explanation is they are moving at light speed.

Speaker:

So that five minutes is actually five minutes.

Speaker:

It's just that they're moving at light speed.

Speaker:

Yeah, but then they're also talking to each other.

Speaker:

And light is faster than sound by a lot.

Speaker:

It doesn't matter, anime.

Speaker:

Yeah, anime logic.

Speaker:

I'll check that one out the anime.

Speaker:

But this is different.

Speaker:

It's there's just I think that I can see where someone's argument where Oh

Speaker:

that's a shonen, that's all fighting.

Speaker:

Okay, but you can't act like there's not potential.

Speaker:

When we watched the movie, there was fighting in there and shooting

Speaker:

and I go very action based.

Speaker:

Yeah, and the first episode seemed very action based, but then the

Speaker:

last two episodes seem like it was like Sherlock Holmes the obvious.

Speaker:

It wasn't like, like when you write a mystery, it has to be mysterious.

Speaker:

Like this fourth episode.

Speaker:

Okay, there's a killer.

Speaker:

You don't know who he is.

Speaker:

He's killing people behind the scenes, right?

Speaker:

He's this group of people that are killing these avatars.

Speaker:

That's like mysterious, right?

Speaker:

And it's hard to predict what's going on because you don't know what happened.

Speaker:

But the first, but two, the It's supposed to be some action mystery shown in, there

Speaker:

was literally none of that in episode two.

Speaker:

And then also, They weren't really even world building either.

Speaker:

I mean you saw people put on clothes, but I feel like, hollow clothes,

Speaker:

but I feel like that could have been You know, I have it for Russia.

Speaker:

There was not a question in my mind.

Speaker:

It wasn't like, oh god.

Speaker:

Please, I just, it's just such a burning question how we will

Speaker:

get dressed in the future.

Speaker:

I'm not gonna lie though, getting that little pod thing and then

Speaker:

choosing your clothes based on the combinations you have, based on the

Speaker:

clothes you have, that's pretty dope.

Speaker:

It is pretty dope is it, there's so much potential here.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

That's what makes it sad.

Speaker:

There was no It just feels real forced.

Speaker:

There was, they tried to develop the characters, but they

Speaker:

also didn't at the same time.

Speaker:

Like it was All I feel like I know is Kogari.

Speaker:

Cause he's oh, I used to be a cop.

Speaker:

But then something happened.

Speaker:

And now I'm just as crazy as everyone else.

Speaker:

And I have to, I will complete my mission.

Speaker:

Whatever that is.

Speaker:

And then everybody, and then old girl look like she's 9 years old.

Speaker:

Yeah, the main character is oof.

Speaker:

She's not a lolly exactly, but I would say that she's like a tall

Speaker:

lolly is what she looks like.

Speaker:

A what?

Speaker:

One of those tall, one of those, yeah, I think they're called lollies aren't they?

Speaker:

When they're children or some bullshit.

Speaker:

A sucker?

Speaker:

She looks like a tall child, Nicholas.

Speaker:

Oh, did you say lolly?

Speaker:

Yeah, that's what is a lolly?

Speaker:

I don't know what a lolly is.

Speaker:

That's what they that's what they call them.

Speaker:

They call them when they're like a child.

Speaker:

When who's a child?

Speaker:

Nigga, the characters.

Speaker:

Bro, what are we talking about?

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I don't know what a lolly is.

Speaker:

That's what I just told you.

Speaker:

You say, I don't know what it is, but I'm telling you now.

Speaker:

And you say, oh, what is that?

Speaker:

And I just repeat it over.

Speaker:

It's a child.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Do you know a child is okay, so back in the day were so where

Speaker:

you get the name were born.

Speaker:

where did you get the name lolly from?

Speaker:

When you just look up anime.

Speaker:

Apparently lolly is a term for why didn't you just say that?

Speaker:

I did say it and you said, I don't know, but I didn't know

Speaker:

where you were getting lolly from.

Speaker:

You didn't ask me where I got it from.

Speaker:

All you said is, what is that?

Speaker:

And I then told you, I meant to say, where did you get the.

Speaker:

Term lolly.

Speaker:

Then ask me that.

Speaker:

Don't think that and not ask me that.

Speaker:

See, this conversation right here is more interesting than The three

Speaker:

episodes we just watched of this anime.

Speaker:

Who's the script writer for this?

Speaker:

First of all, this shit says, okay I'm looking at the pause credits for this.

Speaker:

It says the script writer for this Japanese anime was

Speaker:

Jared Hedges and Blair Rowan.

Speaker:

Do you think that, so Ain't no way some nigga named Jared

Speaker:

wrote this Japanese anime.

Speaker:

Do you think, because there's this happens in TV episodes, this happens in epics.

Speaker:

Do you think that there were different directors for each episode?

Speaker:

Or what do you think, caused the first episode to be so good

Speaker:

and then to just fall so flat?

Speaker:

I honestly This is my suspicion.

Speaker:

All right, the movie was good enough for to get us interested in the series, right?

Speaker:

And the first episode was good enough for us to get interested in the rest of

Speaker:

the episodes Two bangers and then somehow this is really boring What I suspect is

Speaker:

this is as is one of those cases where like I think these first two It might

Speaker:

have been just filler episodes two and three I mean Like those episodes like

Speaker:

Naruto's famous for it's filler, yeah, but the filler's still good though.

Speaker:

It's irrelevant.

Speaker:

I feel like cause here's, hear me out.

Speaker:

With Naruto's filler I can't say all of it's good, but a lot of the Naruto

Speaker:

episode fillers you can still enjoy.

Speaker:

To say all of them are good is pushing a little bit.

Speaker:

But, all of them you can still really enjoy, right?

Speaker:

Here's my thing with this.

Speaker:

It feels like they put these fillers in here.

Speaker:

And just to fucking do it.

Speaker:

I guarantee, cause Like the main storyline, based off

Speaker:

what we saw in the movie.

Speaker:

Based off what we've seen in the first episode.

Speaker:

And a little bit, what I like, I see.

Speaker:

If this would have been like the seven episode, second episode.

Speaker:

This episode four, I would have been still more interested in it.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I would have been more interested in seeing that in the episode three,

Speaker:

as you find out who that killer is.

Speaker:

I'm like, okay.

Speaker:

I would have done something different, but it's not a bad show, right?

Speaker:

But, then here's what I think.

Speaker:

I feel like episode 2 and 3 were just random fillers that just weren't good.

Speaker:

And so now, with this episode 4, you're getting back on track

Speaker:

to something that's interesting.

Speaker:

And really they just should have let the, there shouldn't

Speaker:

be any fillers on this at all.

Speaker:

I think that the, I think that the show is already like mid, right?

Speaker:

I think the show's already it's okay.

Speaker:

It's interesting.

Speaker:

It's not whoa!

Speaker:

It's just interesting.

Speaker:

And the thing is that You putting, trying to put terrible

Speaker:

filler in it is just completely turning me off to the whole show.

Speaker:

You know Because you want to space it out.

Speaker:

Yeah, you know what else, I just thought about the issue.

Speaker:

With Arto, his fillers still have arcs to them.

Speaker:

You know what I mean?

Speaker:

The filler, like this is clearly like an episodic show, where one

Speaker:

episode kind of doesn't have anything to do with the last one, right?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

Each one is the killer of the week, right?

Speaker:

The monster of the week.

Speaker:

Naruto is not like that.

Speaker:

Naruto is Each episode For you to understand what's going on, you

Speaker:

gotta see the previous episode.

Speaker:

Dragon Ball Z is kinda like that.

Speaker:

This is more I think it works better, Trailers work better

Speaker:

when they work in conjunction.

Speaker:

Let's say that this, I haven't seen episode 5, but let's say that

Speaker:

this episode 4 and 5, We're then tied to one ending one, right?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

That's an art, right?

Speaker:

It's like a connected fillers.

Speaker:

So it's okay.

Speaker:

It keeps me interested.

Speaker:

Two and three did not do it.

Speaker:

Two should not even exist.

Speaker:

Two didn't do anything.

Speaker:

They didn't show anything in episode two.

Speaker:

Cause I looked up, we saw episode one.

Speaker:

So I was like, let me do some, I'm going to look up some stuff about this.

Speaker:

And all I heard was like.

Speaker:

All I saw was like, first of all, episode 2 is the worst

Speaker:

episode in the fucking series.

Speaker:

And I'm like, that's not good.

Speaker:

That's the second episode.

Speaker:

You'll if you're in, if you're like in the show, you're like 50 episodes deep.

Speaker:

You'll be like, ah, that one was bad, but I might still continue.

Speaker:

Cause I'm 50 episodes in this.

Speaker:

It's the same with One Piece, right?

Speaker:

I went like a hundred something episodes in.

Speaker:

Mind you, it's still One Piece, I don't know if I really want

Speaker:

to continue with this anime.

Speaker:

Not that it's bad, because there are tons of die hard One Piece fans.

Speaker:

It's not that it's bad.

Speaker:

They'll probably kill you for saying that.

Speaker:

For whatever.

Speaker:

It's not that it's bad, it's just, the pacing is bad.

Speaker:

I'm not saying it's a bad show, I'm just like, but, even then, There are,

Speaker:

I don't, But I'd still, I would still come back to it every once in a while.

Speaker:

But that's because the, you let, There was some part of some of the

Speaker:

earlier episodes where you're like, Okay, this is keeping me hooked.

Speaker:

You gotta hook them in the beginning.

Speaker:

You can't just have one good episode up front.

Speaker:

Cause I feel like you dropped the ball.

Speaker:

If one, two, and three are good you're gonna be able to solid fanbase.

Speaker:

If only episode one is good, and the rest of them are terrible, or you have

Speaker:

any sort of dip after that, you're gonna have people like us, who are like, Oh

Speaker:

it makes me more mad that it seemed like I was gonna waste my time with this.

Speaker:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

It felt like a waste of time.

Speaker:

If it was just bad from the beginning, then, we didn't waste our time.

Speaker:

Now we feel like our time's been wasted.

Speaker:

We're not gonna watch more.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

We said that about Jujutsu Kaisen, so Dang it!

Speaker:

And we ended up definitely watching more of that.

Speaker:

What if this turned into We were like if you want us to watch more,

Speaker:

then you gotta Download this, and this turns into The fanbase just

Speaker:

wants us to watch crappy anime.

Speaker:

I ain't gonna lie, guys I would prefer if you didn't do that.

Speaker:

I'm actually scared.

Speaker:

Cuz, dude, last time we said something like that, that

Speaker:

became our most popular episode.

Speaker:

By all, it wasn't you could take our next three most popular episodes after

Speaker:

that Jujitsu Kaisen episode, add them together, all the views, and it would not

Speaker:

equal the views that one got when I won.

Speaker:

God, now that we've already said it, look, please They're gonna have us hate watch?

Speaker:

I don't want to do that.

Speaker:

I don't even think Listen, you would have to get I don't know.

Speaker:

A ridiculous amount.

Speaker:

If it does get popular, we'll give it, we'll give it an episode.

Speaker:

Maybe one more.

Speaker:

You wanna get But like a watch along, not like a whole bunch, not

Speaker:

like a review of like multiples.

Speaker:

You wanna tell them if they really support this episode,

Speaker:

we'll give it one more episode?

Speaker:

We'll give it a watch along, like we'll watch along to one episode,

Speaker:

but we're not gonna do like A review?

Speaker:

Where it's freakin 12 of them and be like, alright cool, now let's review.

Speaker:

And it's hey man!

Speaker:

This is the guy that's oh hey, I don't like chocolate chip ice cream.

Speaker:

Okay, then why did you, why do you have a tub of it?

Speaker:

It's oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Or just have it No, I don't.

Speaker:

If you don't like it, have to.

Speaker:

In the same aspect, if you're like, oh, we don't like this.

Speaker:

They watch 12 of them.

Speaker:

Oh, we didn't like it.

Speaker:

That's why we watched the whole season.

Speaker:

It's what?

Speaker:

, that makes no sense.

Speaker:

What, but if you guys want us to check out the next one for a watch

Speaker:

along or if you just have a suggestion for an episode that we should check

Speaker:

out, because I, it, there's a lot of interesting concepts in it.

Speaker:

Two and three.

Speaker:

There were interesting concepts that weren't just executed well,

Speaker:

like I said, they feel like filler.

Speaker:

This episode 4 feels like they're getting back on track.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I will say that if there's That's what I would prefer, is that you guys

Speaker:

say, Oh, there's an episode that you should check out, it's this episode.

Speaker:

And then, we'll do that for our watch along.

Speaker:

But Two would be sucked.

Speaker:

Screw this anime yeah, and then Oh!

Speaker:

And, we will have some special guests on our next episode.

Speaker:

We will?

Speaker:

Yeah!

Speaker:

What, who, what special guests are those?

Speaker:

I'm going to telepathically tell you the names of those special, of the episodes.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

I'm about to import it into your mind.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

A and A.

Speaker:

Boom!

Speaker:

Boom!

Speaker:

That's how good a friend to be Nicholas.

Speaker:

Here, you see that?

Speaker:

Boom!

Speaker:

Really?

Speaker:

Yeah, double A.

Speaker:

Oh, okay.

Speaker:

Not triple A.

Speaker:

There's too many.

Speaker:

That's too good for us.

Speaker:

We can't do triple A.

Speaker:

But double A.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I don't want them to come on to the episode that's

Speaker:

gonna be for the psychopath.

Speaker:

That kind of Dude, no.

Speaker:

No, we'll do something else.

Speaker:

We'll do something.

Speaker:

You know what?

Speaker:

We'll do a We'll do a watch along with them.

Speaker:

So that way Oh, we could do Blue Samurai.

Speaker:

. There's some Blue Samurai.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Isn't it Netflix?

Speaker:

On Netflix called Blue Samurai.

Speaker:

Jamie pull up that clip.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Let me Jamie pull up that clip.

Speaker:

. Ja, Jamie, that doesn't really make sense.

Speaker:

We're on a podcast and we're the Joe Rogan, he is like a,

Speaker:

this is like a video podcast.

Speaker:

And then Norm McDonald had video podcast network.

Speaker:

When he was alive.

Speaker:

God, I miss Norm Macdonald.

Speaker:

Rip Norm Macdonald.

Speaker:

You know what we need to do?

Speaker:

We need to say screw this and watch a real anime.

Speaker:

Mike Tyson's Mysteries.

Speaker:

Mike Tyson's Mysteries.

Speaker:

Oh, dude.

Speaker:

We could watch it.

Speaker:

It's a cartoon, but check me out.

Speaker:

Check me out.

Speaker:

Check me out.

Speaker:

If you guys would like us to do a series of anime that's not anime.

Speaker:

That would be cool.

Speaker:

Mike Tyson's Mysteries.

Speaker:

Mike Tyson's Mysteries.

Speaker:

I used to work with a guy in construction.

Speaker:

That's his, that was His name was Mike Tyson?

Speaker:

No, His name was Mysteries?

Speaker:

Okay, can you shut up?

Speaker:

He would, that was his catchphrase.

Speaker:

Chimmy out.

Speaker:

Check me out.

Speaker:

Check me out, out.

Speaker:

Check me out.

Speaker:

What am I supposed to be looking up again?

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

What were you supposed to be looking up, Jamie?

Speaker:

I wonder if Jamie is a black guy.

Speaker:

I don't feel like that's a I think Jamie is a white dude.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he is white, but it feels like a black guy name.

Speaker:

I think it's because I'm thinking about Jamie Foxx.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Oh the Netflix thing.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Netflix, Blue Eyes, White Dragon.

Speaker:

Blue Samurai.

Speaker:

Blue Eyes Samurai.

Speaker:

The Pale Blue Eye, which one is it?

Speaker:

Oh the Pale Blue Eye is live action, so clearly you're talking

Speaker:

about the Blue Eyed Samurai.

Speaker:

You know what's weird?

Speaker:

You?

Speaker:

The One Piece on Netflix is not an anime, and yet it is One Piece.

Speaker:

Yeah, live action, and then Yu Hakusho is on there.

Speaker:

And they took it down because it was so terrible, but that Death Note was awful.

Speaker:

And then, those not, I can't wait for NATO live action.

Speaker:

You're gonna fuck it up.

Speaker:

Just like the fuck up everything.

Speaker:

Hopefully not okay.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

This Blue Eye Samurai.

Speaker:

We'll watch.

Speaker:

Watch or Gundam real time.

Speaker:

I watch.

Speaker:

I just want it to be real Gundams.

Speaker:

That'd be cool.

Speaker:

You wanna watch Real, real Life?

Speaker:

Gundam?

Speaker:

The best thing to watch, the closest thing to watch is probably Pacific Rim.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Because it's just it's a good bad movie.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

How did we go from talking about all, that's how much we don't like this anime.

Speaker:

We would rather talk about anything else.

Speaker:

We're talking like about other stuff.

Speaker:

But this anime.

Speaker:

I'm sure these people worked very hard on this anime.

Speaker:

Yeah, people busted their.

Speaker:

This is one thing I will say.

Speaker:

Writers, listen to me.

Speaker:

It is your job to be good.

Speaker:

People bust their ass for the shit that you create.

Speaker:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker:

Man.

Speaker:

So just and we, here we are just dumping on it.

Speaker:

And then some fucking guy named Jared.

Speaker:

Jared, what's going on bro?

Speaker:

Jared and Blair.

Speaker:

I'm bla I don't believe that the Japanese people fucked this up.

Speaker:

I'm gonna blame you guys for this because we're watching the dub.

Speaker:

Jared Hedges and Blair Rowan.

Speaker:

Because the Japanese translation it says.

Speaker:

Rowan.

Speaker:

It's a, this guy's last name is Oliver?

Speaker:

Masako Oliver.

Speaker:

I ain't gonna lie, that would throw me for a loop if I went to Japan

Speaker:

and I was like, what's your name?

Speaker:

Oh, my name's Oliver.

Speaker:

Really?

Speaker:

Just like how in the Bible you're like, Oh, these are Middle Eastern guys from B.

Speaker:

C.

Speaker:

Yeah, and his name is Tom?

Speaker:

And Peter?

Speaker:

And David?

Speaker:

That's like I used to live with this dude who was black, but he was French.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And the first time I met him, he was like, Woo wee!

Speaker:

And I was just like, Hold on.

Speaker:

Woo wee?

Speaker:

Hold on.

Speaker:

That's the greatest French impression.

Speaker:

You are a tall, black dude.

Speaker:

Ironically, being in America you, we see like a lot of diversity,

Speaker:

but there's still so like when you see diversity that we haven't seen

Speaker:

before, it's like very jarring.

Speaker:

Like I remember I was talking to this one Spanish guy.

Speaker:

I was at a taco truck totally talking to us.

Speaker:

We weren't fucking tacos.

Speaker:

And one of his coworkers was at Asian game.

Speaker:

I don't know what, I don't know Asian from where, but he spoke her for Spanish like.

Speaker:

Rolf Ripp, and I was like, yeah, of course it's possible that Asians can know

Speaker:

Spanish, but It just didn't cross my mind.

Speaker:

Yeah, it surprises you.

Speaker:

There's this chick online, and she's Hold on, we're not talking about anime anymore.

Speaker:

Let's, okay, look.

Speaker:

I'm gonna end this episode, alright?

Speaker:

Look.

Speaker:

If you want us to listen to it, we'll do a watch along maybe, but

Speaker:

just please, for the love of God, tell us which episode to watch.

Speaker:

DM us on Instagram or something like that.

Speaker:

Again, like we said, if you want I'm sure these people

Speaker:

worked very hard on this anime.

Speaker:

I'm sure one of these episodes has to be good.

Speaker:

The concept is good.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

One of them has to be good.

Speaker:

Just tell us what you want to watch.

Speaker:

We'll do a watch along with that.

Speaker:

And then we'll have on some special guests probably next time.

Speaker:

Alright, my name's DJ.

Speaker:

I'm Nicholas.

Speaker:

And we'll see you next time.

Speaker:
