Speaker:

Howdy.

It's the Southern Senpai Show, where small town Southerners explore big

Speaker:

time Japanese entertainment, anime, manga, and everything in between.

Speaker:

Here's your hosts, Nicholas and DJ.

Speaker:

What's going on y'all?

Speaker:

Southern Senpais here, two Southern guys who explore Japanese culture together.

Speaker:

I'm Nicholas.

Speaker:

I'm

Speaker:

DJ.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

I did not Fuck up that intro.

Speaker:

Yeah, man.

Speaker:

I'm so so proud of you.

Speaker:

You see I mean it only took a year Yeah, this is yeah, it took about a year for

Speaker:

him to get it correct But you know what that must have been like the hardest 10

Speaker:

seconds of your life, but eventually but you did you worked out It's all good.

Speaker:

He will never mess up again.

Speaker:

Isn't that right, Nicholas?

Speaker:

I probably will.

Speaker:

Nah.

Speaker:

Let's go ahead and put it down for a hundred dollars.

Speaker:

I'll never mess up again.

Speaker:

No, I'm not gonna do that because last time I lost that hundred dollars.

Speaker:

Ooh, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.

Speaker:

Nicholas lost that bet last time hard.

Speaker:

That's, that has nothing to do with it.

Speaker:

We'll talk about that later, but today we're gonna be watching solo leveling.

Speaker:

Yeah, so we were debating on finishing Ippo Makarauchi but then we've had

Speaker:

multiple people in the DMs and friends of ours be like please do solo level.

Speaker:

Do a launch along to solo leveling.

Speaker:

So this two people in particular, I'm going to shout out.

Speaker:

I'm going to shout out Alison, the hammer and Ida from Norway.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Ida, these two people really decided to lead the charge on making sure we did this

Speaker:

episode, making sure we did this episode.

Speaker:

Actually Alison was the first person to suggest it to us.

Speaker:

And then I don't know if she has like friends or whatever, but then

Speaker:

that's when we started to get the floods of Oh, you guys should do this.

Speaker:

I was like, all all right.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

All right, man, and then you know, then You're getting

Speaker:

we're getting dms from europe.

Speaker:

It's like, all right, fine.

Speaker:

Yeah, fine.

Speaker:

All right We'll do solo level.

Speaker:

We'll do solo level.

Speaker:

We'll do this watch along.

Speaker:

Today I'm using my scene enhancer.

Speaker:

Oh yes, the scene enhancers.

Speaker:

Yes, the scene enhancers.

Speaker:

The scene enhancers today are brought to you by Modelo.

Speaker:

They are not sponsored by us.

Speaker:

But, that's just what we have.

Speaker:

I have I'd probably get cancelled if I tried to say that.

Speaker:

It's the flavoured ones.

Speaker:

Mine's is limon y sal.

Speaker:

And yours is naranja.

Speaker:

Yeah, I was gonna say something else

Speaker:

It's pronounced Yeah, but And it's orange.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah orange is or just and this episode's gonna be a little bit different this

Speaker:

episode We'll have a little post Part after the end of the episode, but

Speaker:

let's just go ahead and start this watch along as you guys know we don't

Speaker:

have the I guess the Funimation intros aren't even going to exist anymore.

Speaker:

Let's talk about that real fast.

Speaker:

Because Funimation got bought out by Sony.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

Crunchyroll got bought out by Sony, so I guess then Funimation died.

Speaker:

More tree stay.

Speaker:

You know what they say, Americans will eventually rule everything.

Speaker:

You will own nothing and be happy.

Speaker:

Americans are like, hey, what are you doing with that anime stuff?

Speaker:

Oh, yeah, it's pretty cool.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But it seems like it's making a lot of money.

Speaker:

So I'm a knee dad.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

So I'm a knee get, I'm a knee dad.

Speaker:

Lemme get dead.

Speaker:

You can't just buy us out.

Speaker:

Here's over a billion dollars.

Speaker:

Looks like you can buy us out . So we don't have the beginning

Speaker:

studio beginnings, but we do have Che stock beginning at the

Speaker:

the beginning of the episode.

Speaker:

The episode is 23 minutes and 40 seconds long.

Speaker:

So I'm just gonna get and get this party started in 3, 2, 1, play.

Speaker:

It's black.

Speaker:

It's black.

Speaker:

Oh, it says three years ago.

Speaker:

The real question is, will I care today?

Speaker:

Also, you guys should know that this anime follows the typical format of

Speaker:

everybody else is so much bigger, better than the main character.

Speaker:

He's like the weak.

Speaker:

But then, something happens where he becomes O.

Speaker:

P.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Which is cool, we're also watching dubbed.

Speaker:

Because we're Americans.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Alright.

Speaker:

Eventually, we'll probably buy Japan.

Speaker:

So some mages firing an ant.

Speaker:

To be fair, if ants were like, this big, They would be a real problem.

Speaker:

Yeah, we would be screwed as humans.

Speaker:

There's no way.

Speaker:

They can, they, can't they lift ten times their body weight or something like that?

Speaker:

Yeah, and they replicate so fast Look, he can head from an ant right now.

Speaker:

What was that?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Bro, how come you have holes in your face that aren't bleeding?

Speaker:

Do you see this anime man?

Speaker:

Oh, Wow, what are you confused?

Speaker:

He's healing you.

Speaker:

Yeah

Speaker:

He's doing that thing where he like he's not looking.

Speaker:

Yep, and I get

Speaker:

That's probably the tank Like a tank character.

Speaker:

It's actually a rule in anime that all male tank characters

Speaker:

have to show their abs.

Speaker:

It's not negotiable.

Speaker:

Just like for fanservice women, they gotta show titties.

Speaker:

With the males, if you're a tank, you gotta show abs.

Speaker:

You gotta show abs.

Speaker:

And you have to have that confident smirk on your face.

Speaker:

And if you're somewhat controversial, Or like maybe just a little bit

Speaker:

like oh, i'm like the wild guy you have to have sharp teeth Yeah,

Speaker:

even if you're completely human

Speaker:

Hey that hey, that's me right there.

Speaker:

Hey, I don't oh, I ain't gonna fight.

Speaker:

You ain't gotta tell me twice

Speaker:

I bet you he has the sharp teeth.

Speaker:

We'll wait till we get like a close up shot.

Speaker:

Yeah

Speaker:

Oh That's what's up, yeah, that looked like it hurt really bad

Speaker:

Oh

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

He says, you're a tank, and he says, and, but that's like your job.

Speaker:

Oh, sharp teeth!

Speaker:

Yeah, there it is!

Speaker:

There's the sharp teeth!

Speaker:

Oh, so he's like the Thundercats.

Speaker:

And this guy wants to be Wolverine so bad, it's crazy.

Speaker:

This guy is like Wolverine if he was a wizard.

Speaker:

Oh, he's the smart guy, he's wearing glasses.

Speaker:

That's how you know.

Speaker:

Yeah, man, that's how you know.

Speaker:

Look at these people with these generic haircuts.

Speaker:

That's how you know, they're gonna die, right?

Speaker:

Wait, I'm sorry.

Speaker:

Do you say his name's the drill master?

Speaker:

No guild master.

Speaker:

Oh it's a drill master.

Speaker:

I was about to say I heard drill master I think I know my new

Speaker:

nickname My name is the drill master.

Speaker:

I Will now be formally introduced Okay Oh, how are you telling about them then?

Speaker:

They made swords.

Speaker:

Of hunters.

Speaker:

This reminds me of the Jaeger pilots.

Speaker:

Oh okay.

Speaker:

And that's probably where the main character is.

Speaker:

Except for one guy.

Speaker:

Except for this guy.

Speaker:

Oh damn, so it's set from day one.

Speaker:

So if you're like ranked S, that's life's amazing.

Speaker:

In this world, being born white.

Speaker:

That's what I was about to say.

Speaker:

Being born white is S tier.

Speaker:

Not that, what did the guy say?

Speaker:

He goes, Look I, I recognize such and such is going on, but if I had to choose

Speaker:

a race, Oh yeah, that was Who was that?

Speaker:

That was the dude that was jerking off in front of those people.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's that red headed guy.

Speaker:

Who then went bald.

Speaker:

He was in Parks and Rec, as a cop.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

Yeah he was.

Speaker:

Really?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

What's his name?

Speaker:

He's a dude who jerked off and then to himself in that hotel and people

Speaker:

like called the cops on him, even though Dave Chappelle was like, this

Speaker:

is the least threatening person ever.

Speaker:

What's his name?

Speaker:

He was on SNL.

Speaker:

He had Louie.

Speaker:

He had Louie.

Speaker:

Louie.

Speaker:

Louie.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Louie CK.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Now, to be fair, I might try white once, but I think I would eventually

Speaker:

revert back to black once I don't, I like being able to dance, man.

Speaker:

That's like a real big part of life.

Speaker:

You know what, man?

Speaker:

I'm cool with not dancing, it's a, it's whatever.

Speaker:

I also like having a large penis.

Speaker:

That's, Not gonna lie, that'd be pretty cool.

Speaker:

Just have a much larger than average penis.

Speaker:

You know what's crazy?

Speaker:

Is that in anime They have big penises too?

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

In anime, they're like Mostly in Japan, like a lot of animes are

Speaker:

either in Japan, or based out of Japan, or Japan like in some way.

Speaker:

And what does this have to do, penis related?

Speaker:

No, ah, so I was gonna say is, it's okay, If you guys like the only reason

Speaker:

that Americans know a lot about like other races I guess have certain

Speaker:

opinions about them is because there's so many different races here, right?

Speaker:

I don't think this would the same joke would translate in Japanese or

Speaker:

like China or something they would everyone's the same race like what?

Speaker:

That's like when we were talking about we had that conversation a while back

Speaker:

about Why are Guys who grow up in the church strange You weird and you are

Speaker:

like and but the thing is like other people hang out with other people

Speaker:

But this one guy and you are like that's because he's homogenous, right?

Speaker:

They don't have any other cultures, you know when you expose you to other cultures

Speaker:

and stuff like that you become like a better more rounded person and Ironically,

Speaker:

most people are somewhat rounded, right?

Speaker:

If you only hang out with one group of people become very weird and homogenous.

Speaker:

Oh, they're about to go in

Speaker:

What I'm waiting for is for the really great guy to, once they get

Speaker:

into action, look at the weakest guy and be like, You fucking piece

Speaker:

of shit, and then go do his thing.

Speaker:

Yeah, either that or he gets just murdered straight off the top.

Speaker:

Okay, so what do you think?

Speaker:

He's getting murdered, straight off the top, so that way they know how

Speaker:

dangerous it is, or you think they're just gonna do the, oh, you suck.

Speaker:

I think it's you suck.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

First of all, I'll tell you why you're E Ranked.

Speaker:

What is this little dagger you have here?

Speaker:

What are you doing there, sir?

Speaker:

Also, Ahem.

Speaker:

This anime, I already see the, A huge, glaring plot hole issue.

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

Now, I'm, we just started this anime, And it's pretty good so far, It's pretty

Speaker:

interesting so far it's not like I don't like it, but, They have the Pacific

Speaker:

Rim problem in which why are you going into the portal in the first place?

Speaker:

And if what's coming out of them is just monsters Why don't you just put up some

Speaker:

like instant kill thing right next to the portal because problem solved anime?

Speaker:

Oh, I forget.

Speaker:

I keep forgetting that Be no series.

Speaker:

I keep forgetting that part.

Speaker:

Oh That's why I do it for money.

Speaker:

Now that makes sense The essence stones inside the monsters

Speaker:

are valuable for money that

Speaker:

It just became so realistically as soon as I said that, they instantly

Speaker:

explained why they would do this.

Speaker:

It's for money.

Speaker:

Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker:

Ooh.

Speaker:

You have to fight them off?

Speaker:

I couldn't have thought of that.

Speaker:

I never thought about that.

Speaker:

Are you a healer?

Speaker:

I sure do hope so.

Speaker:

He's gonna be on the brink of death, and then something crazy's gonna happen.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

To be fair I don't know how much I would enjoy being this you're

Speaker:

dying and you're healing and dying and healing and dying and healing.

Speaker:

That sounds like horrible for that to happen again and again.

Speaker:

Yeah, that does sound pretty bad.

Speaker:

I think you'll be pleased, Guildmaster.

Speaker:

Regardless of age or gender.

Speaker:

Yeah, because if you, whenever you're born in a certain class.

Speaker:

That's how you know someone's evil, or like they're super powerful, when

Speaker:

they just, when they don't look at you.

Speaker:

Aw, you see that fan service?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Not enough, because these string bean legs are not doing it for me, I gotta

Speaker:

be, I gotta be for real with you.

Speaker:

But she does have slow motion hair, so I think we're supposed

Speaker:

to assume she's attractive.

Speaker:

She has a pink hat on, she must be a celebrity in disguise.

Speaker:

Hey, I was right . That's cool.

Speaker:

Disappearing to no one.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

You's crazy.

Speaker:

Imagine.

Speaker:

Okay, you okay?

Speaker:

You did not need to back flip onto that.

Speaker:

You dealt with, you were trying to flex.

Speaker:

That was extra.

Speaker:

So imagine this happened some real life, right?

Speaker:

People get powers X, Y, Z, and you had to be one of the normies.

Speaker:

That must suck.

Speaker:

That sucks, dude.

Speaker:

Look at this frame right here.

Speaker:

Her tits are right there, right next to his face.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

This is your friend?

Speaker:

You need better friends.

Speaker:

Like she's Oh, I'm doing it because I'm worried about you.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

But what's this, all this personal shit.

Speaker:

Like, why are you calling me a bitch all the time?

Speaker:

If you're actually worried about me, help me get better.

Speaker:

Cause I'm clearly not going to stop.

Speaker:

And then you want, and then you want me to take you on a date?

Speaker:

Follow.

Speaker:

It's a cultural thing, man.

Speaker:

I guess I just don't get it.

Speaker:

It's a cultural thing.

Speaker:

All right, let's see.

Speaker:

We got what?

Speaker:

Four, eight, twelve, thirteen people.

Speaker:

At least five of them gotta die.

Speaker:

You said five?

Speaker:

I'm gonna go everyone but the solo guy.

Speaker:

Maybe the chick his friend lives, maybe.

Speaker:

But at least everyone else is going to die.

Speaker:

You think so?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, because I bet you he goes Oh, I didn't.

Speaker:

I'm not letting anyone know I even have this solo leveling power.

Speaker:

Okay, I choose no.

Speaker:

Yeah, how is it a mystery?

Speaker:

We've gone through it so many times in which there's a

Speaker:

whole organization about it.

Speaker:

I love this projector.

Speaker:

This is, oh my god, this is classic school right here.

Speaker:

Yep, school projector.

Speaker:

Why are they used to wheel out the big TV?

Speaker:

That's how you know class is about to be hype as hell, bro.

Speaker:

Right, and you knew the teacher had a hangover.

Speaker:

With the VHS?

Speaker:

With the strap on the TV?

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

Bill Nye the science guy, yeah, wow Bill, like it's a club Bill.

Speaker:

Or eyewitness videos.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah, what's that one that had the robot and the guy?

Speaker:

That was like an orange robot, you know what I'm talking about?

Speaker:

I think it was the witness one.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It, I want a statue like this.

Speaker:

His last name is Song, stop it.

Speaker:

Didn't this start off as a webtoon?

Speaker:

It was a webtoon?

Speaker:

And then they were like this show.

Speaker:

I heard it started off as a webtoon.

Speaker:

He's gonna sneeze.

Speaker:

Oh, he sneezed.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

Okay, then leave.

Speaker:

Huh?

Speaker:

You might be right, DJ.

Speaker:

It might kill them all.

Speaker:

What do you mean she's seeing things?

Speaker:

You're gonna think of monsters.

Speaker:

How is it Okay, so she's definitely not seeing things.

Speaker:

How?

Speaker:

You've never been there.

Speaker:

Why did, what?

Speaker:

Does he have on Adidas?

Speaker:

Yo!

Speaker:

Ha!

Speaker:

It's a trap!

Speaker:

Ooh!

Speaker:

That man was quick as a mug, bro.

Speaker:

He got sliced in half.

Speaker:

Damn.

Speaker:

Oh, it looks like just don't touch the door.

Speaker:

You'll be fine.

Speaker:

Alright, let's start rationing out food.

Speaker:

I went to 7 11 before this.

Speaker:

Ha Who wants a Slim Jim?

Speaker:

Oh, hey.

Speaker:

Hit him with the okey doke.

Speaker:

You about to hit him with the Hit him with the look.

Speaker:

Oh!

Speaker:

I told you.

Speaker:

Wow.

Speaker:

Wow.

Speaker:

That's crazy.

Speaker:

Dang, bare hands.

Speaker:

Oh yeah, cause they're all the hospital and college bills.

Speaker:

Hey I'm gonna go be a college person.

Speaker:

Can you kill yourself?

Speaker:

Yeah, sure.

Speaker:

Whoa.

Speaker:

That's crazy.

Speaker:

That's two people down.

Speaker:

Oh, that's the end of the first episode.

Speaker:

That's the end of the first episode.

Speaker:

Oh, wow.

Speaker:

That's actually pretty good.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's actually a pretty good episode.

Speaker:

I can see why so many people suggested this to us.

Speaker:

Nicholas, what do you think?

Speaker:

It was a really slow start.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But, a generic start.

Speaker:

Yeah, a very generic start.

Speaker:

But yeah, no, towards the very end, I was like, Oh, okay, it got better and better.

Speaker:

Yeah so Shoot, I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker:

I'll probably, we'll probably run that episode too.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, it was awesome.

Speaker:

It was awesome.

Speaker:

So you guys, this came from a suggestion.

Speaker:

Alright, I'm gonna stop these credits.

Speaker:

Alright, there we go.

Speaker:

Anyway, this came from a suggestion.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Send us a DM, send us a message.

Speaker:

And Yeah, maybe we'll do yours next.

Speaker:

Although, we'll probably watch the second episode of, Yeah, we'll probably do the

Speaker:

se We're We'll look We'll think about if we want to do a watch along, or if we want

Speaker:

to do a batch of episodes and then review.

Speaker:

A batch of episodes and then reviews.

Speaker:

Yeah, that there's a re It depends on what it is.

Speaker:

EPO had to be batch of episodes reviews.

Speaker:

There was like 75 episodes in the first season, right?

Speaker:

And we didn't even we didn't even finish all the Delta because some people demanded

Speaker:

soul leveling So now we're doing this and I go back to EPO, but Yeah, no, I

Speaker:

thought it was pretty good at first.

Speaker:

All right, cool.

Speaker:

Guys this this has been this watch along I'm DJ.

Speaker:

Oh Yeah So this has been wait, do we say this has been Southern

Speaker:

Senpais or what do we do?

Speaker:

Speaker:

Speaker:

What do you feel like doing, Nicholas?

Speaker:

What do you feel like doing today?

Speaker:

How do you want to close out?

Speaker:

Speaker:

Speaker:

The outro, we already played the outro.

Speaker:

Nicholas, did you attach the outro after the episode?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And people are still listening to us?

Speaker:

Alright.

Speaker:

What, why?

Speaker:

The episode is over, what are you guys doing?

Speaker:

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

Maybe they're maybe they're huge fans.

Speaker:

Oh please, we don't have fans.

Speaker:

We got some.

Speaker:

We got a few.

Speaker:

Today we're Nicholas.

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

You know in our office

Speaker:

Anyway Nicholas your office is set up with a lot of Harry Potter stuff.

Speaker:

Yeah?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

What do you, did you, cause you know how they made that Star Wars anime?

Speaker:

Would you want them to make the Harry Potter anime?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.

Speaker:

They went from the live action itself was pretty cool.

Speaker:

They, there's a Star Wars anime?

Speaker:

Probably.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I didn't know that was a Star Wars anime.

Speaker:

Yeah, they made it.

Speaker:

They made it anime when?

Speaker:

Two years ago.

Speaker:

Oh, I'll have to check it out.

Speaker:

Yeah, there's like a whole bunch of Japanese anime people that

Speaker:

made Star Wars legend and stuff.

Speaker:

They're like, this is like one person has like a light saer in the shape with

Speaker:

an umbrella or something like that.

Speaker:

They should do a Harry Potter anime one, I thought that'd be pretty cool

Speaker:

here's the real thing if you want Harry Potter anime It's like I feel like when

Speaker:

they take something and they make it live action first and then they go to

Speaker:

animation Ends up being pretty good.

Speaker:

But their track record are going from like anime to live action.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's like Terrible.

Speaker:

Because the thing is because whenever You . Whenever you have

Speaker:

animate, you're not limited by anything, just what you can animate.

Speaker:

That's true.

Speaker:

And then if you start in live action, then it's going to be good because

Speaker:

then you can make it, it's already limited unless your Game of Thrones.

Speaker:

Who has 200 million for what, one episode?

Speaker:

No, the thing is, once you go from live action to anime, it

Speaker:

can then be whatever you want.

Speaker:

Oh.

Speaker:

Like it gets better.

Speaker:

It, it's not constrain constrained to reality.

Speaker:

It's now anime.

Speaker:

I'm thinking about putting like more, so in my office, I have

Speaker:

a whole bunch of Marvel stuff.

Speaker:

I have a comic books on one wall, like a comic book wall

Speaker:

and some other signature stuff.

Speaker:

I don't have any Do I have any anime posters up?

Speaker:

I don't I gotta get my anime poster game up.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh My office doesn't have any anime posters in it.

Speaker:

That's you got to get.

Speaker:

Our friend ozzy the virus You got to buy some more posters.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Shout out to ozzy the virus.

Speaker:

Shout out ozzy the virus Yeah, that artist we know that guy in fact

Speaker:

nicholas is in some of his videos.

Speaker:

Yeah he's actually he's actually on our he's one of the guests

Speaker:

You For our film center one.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, we run a lot of podcasts.

Speaker:

Actually, we do that a lot and I don't know Nicholas

Speaker:

what is the number one thing?

Speaker:

That you always say when someone asks us to help them out with

Speaker:

our podcast What's your budget?

Speaker:

Yep!

Speaker:

That's good!

Speaker:

You always gonna be like, I don't know!

Speaker:

What do you want?

Speaker:

What's your budget?

Speaker:

It's crazy, usually the what do you want part that's hard,

Speaker:

that's like more difficult.

Speaker:

There's so many people that have money, who are like oh, I have Oh, the money's

Speaker:

not the issue, the money's not the issue.

Speaker:

Okay, but what do you want?

Speaker:

I want to be successful.

Speaker:

Congratulations.

Speaker:

So does everybody else.

Speaker:

The thing is the reason why the what do you want part is so hard is because

Speaker:

they haven't done any of the work.

Speaker:

They don't know what they want.

Speaker:

They just know that they want a successful podcast that makes them money.

Speaker:

But they haven't done any work.

Speaker:

None at all.

Speaker:

They haven't done any work on what exactly it is they want.

Speaker:

They haven't figured out any logistics on it.

Speaker:

It's difficult okay, so when we started the podcast, it was like what, we

Speaker:

went down to a bar, and just with a whole bunch of neon flashcards,

Speaker:

and wrote down stuff, and then it was like, oh, okay, this one sounds

Speaker:

really catchy, we should do this one.

Speaker:

Yeah, but we also have been doing this for a year and a half now.

Speaker:

Oh.

Speaker:

Yeah, there's a lot a whole lot of growing pains and a whole lot of things

Speaker:

we had to learn But I also think that we also knew we wanted to do we just

Speaker:

wanted to sit down and then talk About anyway, and that was like the goal

Speaker:

That was as far as the goal went.

Speaker:

Because we knew at some point that we weren't going to have time to

Speaker:

watch anime and this was the reason to do it And lo and behold, we

Speaker:

don't have time to watch anime.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's why we created this podcast.

Speaker:

We had to create work You To make us have fun.

Speaker:

Yeah, that sucks.

Speaker:

We foresaw the future We had to like with like schedule out time to have

Speaker:

fun and also need to like Logistically make it financially right feasible

Speaker:

to have fun and we had to justify Watching anime in the future, right?

Speaker:

Gosh, like the world is so crazy right now.

Speaker:

It is pretty nuts Yeah, man, I mean You I remember when I was in middle

Speaker:

school, if I wanted to get through a, I don't watch a ton of anime I watched

Speaker:

more anime in high school, but if I wanted to get through an entire season,

Speaker:

I would be done in like a night.

Speaker:

Oh, okay, cool, 13 episodes?

Speaker:

I guess I'll just finish this later today, because you have nothing else going on.

Speaker:

You just wake up, and then it's oh.

Speaker:

Yeah, I still haven't finished Ippo.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, it's so good though.

Speaker:

Yeah, it is pretty good.

Speaker:

Ippo's really good.

Speaker:

I honestly I watched I want to re watch Gundam.

Speaker:

Wing?

Speaker:

Yeah no, all of them from the beginning.

Speaker:

But, That's a lot of episodes.

Speaker:

Yeah, that is.

Speaker:

That's a lot of like series.

Speaker:

Wasn't there a time it was like, there was like multiple Gundam series like on at the

Speaker:

same time, like having at the same time.

Speaker:

There, there are, Gundam started in the eighties, right?

Speaker:

The eighties.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, that's 40 years ago.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Gundam started, I think Gundam started in like the early eighties

Speaker:

and it's had many incarnations.

Speaker:

Actually.

Speaker:

My favorite is Gundam Wing, obviously, just because it was my first anime

Speaker:

that I watched and Is that the anime that got you into anime?

Speaker:

Yeah, first of all, everyone's seen Dragon Ball Z.

Speaker:

Probably.

Speaker:

So let's not act like anything on Toonami, you, everyone's just basically seen.

Speaker:

If you had a childhood in the 90s or early 1000s.

Speaker:

Yeah, no no, Gundam Wing, I think Gundam Wing was like my

Speaker:

first anime that I watched.

Speaker:

That you were like, oh, okay.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'm gonna get really into this.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Actually though, there's a lot of, in the Gundam community, there's a lot

Speaker:

of people that don't like Gundam Wing.

Speaker:

They're like, it's the worst one.

Speaker:

Do you, have you seen any of the other ones?

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

That's probably why it's your favorite.

Speaker:

Why would I watch others?

Speaker:

I'm just gonna watch Gundam Wing.

Speaker:

What if it gets way better?

Speaker:

You don't want it to get better?

Speaker:

Not really.

Speaker:

I think the So I, everyone knew Dragon Ball Z and tried to go

Speaker:

Super Saiyan when they were like 5.

Speaker:

But, I think the one for me that was like, oh, I think there's something to

Speaker:

this was whatchamacallit, Code Geass.

Speaker:

I remember some kid was like, oh, you like anime?

Speaker:

And I was like, I don't know what that means, but Dragon Ball Z is cool.

Speaker:

And he goes, that's anime.

Speaker:

I was like, it is?

Speaker:

And he goes, yeah.

Speaker:

He stands for animation.

Speaker:

I was like, okay, cartoons are animation like and he had a little well anime is

Speaker:

technically japanese And I was like, oh the boondocks he goes No, the boondocks

Speaker:

is an anime and now it's considered to be anyway That's not the point.

Speaker:

The point is that he was like, oh if you like that stuff You should watch

Speaker:

code geass and I was like, what is that?

Speaker:

He's this guy He has the ability to tell someone to do anything once

Speaker:

and I was like That's his power.

Speaker:

He's yeah, he didn't tell someone to do something once that's it Yeah Little

Speaker:

did I know, this anime fucking slaps!

Speaker:

I watched this whole anime in less than a day.

Speaker:

The first season in less than a day.

Speaker:

And then I watched the whole second season in two or three days.

Speaker:

And I was like, okay.

Speaker:

I'm on board.

Speaker:

There's something going on here with this anime stuff because Japan's not afraid

Speaker:

to show like blood and stuff like that.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Or you talk about like I think older 90s cartoons were like that where

Speaker:

they're more not realistic per se, but they're more willing to talk

Speaker:

about like deeper, darker subjects.

Speaker:

American cartoons nowadays are so squeaky clean, they're not even worth watching.

Speaker:

Yeah, no, they're really not.

Speaker:

They're not even worth watching.

Speaker:

But Yeah, alright guys this has been a bonus segment.

Speaker:

If you're still listening, hey, thanks!

Speaker:

Appreciate it!

Speaker:

Thanks, we'll see you next time.

Speaker:

Alright, bye.
